Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] The graphic symbol of a lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. If an indoor antenna is used (either built into the set or installed separately), never allow any part of the antenna to touch the metal parts of other electrical appliances such as a lamp, TV set etc. If an outside antenna is connected to your tuner or tuner-preamplifier, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. 70-1984, provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes and requirements for the grounding electrode. [. . . ] The TUNE mode is used to select a known station's frequency, SEARCH mode to automatically look for stations that are transmitting on in your area. TUNE, SEARCH and PRESET functions are available both on the NAD-712's front panel and remote control handset. Two AA (R6) batteries, should be fitted in the battery compartment at the rear of the Remote Control. When replacing batteries, check that they have been put in the right way round, as indicated on the base of the battery compartment. For ease of operation, the main input selection buttons are coloured light gray. please refer to previous sections of the manual for a full description of individual functions. Note: The remote control handset supplied is the NAD universal remote and can be used on any remote controllable NAD system. (Caution: Switch the NAD-712 off using the front panel Power switch when it is not being used for long periods of time. For automatic Search tuning press the MODE button until the SEARCH LED lights up. press the buttons to start the tuner searching through the frequency band. When the tuner finds a broadcast signal of adequate strength, the automatic search will stop at that station. MUTE Press the MUTE Button to temporarily switch off the sound to the speakers and headphones. the Mute indicator (MUTE) flashes in the Display Panel when the NAD-712 is in Mute mode. Press MUTE again to restore sound Switches NAD-712 to Tuner and pages through the Preset stations on AM or FM. Starts the Tuner Search function, moving up or down the frequency band. selects the Manual Tune function , stepping up or down the frequency band. Increases or decreases the Volume setting using the motorised front panel Volume control. When tuning on the AM medium-wave band, the frequency changes by increments of 10 kHz in North America or 9 kHz in Europe. The following procedure toggles the tuning circuit between these settings. A ribbon-wire "dipole" antenna may provide adequate reception of strong FM signals. But such an antenna is not very efficient at rejecting "multipath" and other forms of FM interference. And it cannot easily be rotated to optimize its pickup pattern for best reception of stations in different directions. [. . . ] By removing the metal jumpers (after first switching OFF the POWER), you can connect various signalprocessing accessories in the path between preamp and power amp: an equalizer, a surround-sound processor, a stereo image enhancer, an electronic crossover, etc. To use a signal processor, connect a stereo patch cord from the PRE-OUT jacks to the processor's line-level input jacks, and a second patch cord from the processor's output jacks to the amplifier's MAIN-IN jacks. If you remove the metal jumpers, save them in case you may want to disconnect the signal processor and return to normal operation at a later time. If the jumpers should be lost, a conventional stereo patch cord can be used to connect PRE-OUT to MAIN-IN in each channel. [. . . ]
