USE OF FUEL ADDITIVES The use of fuel additive, such as STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer or an equivalent, will inhibit corrosion and minimize the formation of gum deposits. CAUTION: For proper engine operation and maximum reliability, pay strict attention to the oil and fuel mixing instructions on the 2-cycle oil container. Using improperly mixed fuel can severely damage the engine. OIL AND FUEL MIXING INSTRUCTIONS Thoroughly mix 3. 8 liters of unleaded petrol (gasoline) with 120 ml. Do not mix them directly in the engine fuel tank. + UNLEADED GAS 2 CYCLE OIL 4. 8 LITERS + (1. 27 US. The operator and unit must be in a stable position while starting to avoid serious personal injury. Fully press and release the primer bulb 5 to7 times, slowly, until FUEL IS VISIBLE IN THE PRIMER BULB, Figure 17. If you can’t see fuel in the bulb, press and release the bulb three (3) additional times, or as many times as it takes before you can see fuel in it. With the unit in the starting position, squeeze and hold the throttle control to the wide open (full throttle) position and pull the starter rope briskly 5 times in the FULL choke (A) position, Figure 18. If the engine attempts to run before the fifth pull, proceed to step 6. Pull starter rope briskly 1 to 3 times to start the engine, Figure 18. NOTE: Squeeze and hold the throttle control until the engine has started and warmed up. NOTE: If the engine floods while trying to start, place the choke lever in the RUN (C) position, Figure 6. Put the ignition switch in the ON position (Figure 16), and start in PARTIAL choke (B) position (Figure 17). Before operating the unit, stand in the operating position, Figure 19. Check for the following: • The operator is wearing eye protection and proper clothing • With a slightly-bent right arm, the operator’s hand is holding the shaft grip • The operator’s left arm is straight, his hand holding the J-handle • The unit is at waist level • The cutting attachment is parallel to the ground and easily contacts the grass without the need to bend over For best results, tap the Bump Head™ on bare ground or hard soil. Line release becomes more difficult as the cutting line becomes shorter. NOTE: Do not rest the Bump Head™ on the ground while the unit is running. Some line breakage will occur from: • • • • Entanglement with foreign matter Normal line fatigue Attempting to cut thick, stalky weeds Forcing the line into objects such as walls or fence posts Keep the cutting head parallel to the ground. Cutting with more than the tip will reduce cutting efficiency and may overload the engine. [. . . ] • • Use a small brush to clean off the outside of the unit and to keep the air vents free of obstructions. Do not use strong detergents or petroleum based cleaners, such as kerosene. Some household cleaners contain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon that can damage the plastic housings or handles. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.
