This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. · To protect against fire, electric shock and personal injury, do not immerse cord, plug or cleaner in water or other liquid. · Product safety · Never use the appliance without the filters being installed. [. . . ] Pull down the hose connector inlet flap Í and insert the hose connector with its `mouth' pointing upwards E. Push the hose connector fully in such that the flap latches on to the connector. Add the required accessory directly to the tube connector Í or fit the extension tubes for maximum reach. When removing the connector, gently lower the flap slightly to release the catch then withdraw the connector. < ¤ Â 1 E 2 OPERATING THE APPLIANCE Using on carpets Place cleaner in its upright position. Release the mains cable by turning the quick release cleat Ë half-a-turn and extend the cable fully. Remove the connector before returning to general cleaning with the floor nozzle Â. Allergy sufferers F Under furniture cleaning F The unique pivot point on this product allows the whole head to fit under low furniture for better cleaning performance. DUST CANISTER Emptying 1 Every time the dust canister is emptied, rotate the filter cleaning dial fi several times clockwise before emptying G (this will agitate the fine dust between the filter pleats and restore the air flow). Remove the dust canister from the product by pressing the canister release button > H. Turn the lid quarter-of-a-turn anti-clockwise to unlock, lift off the lid with the pleated filter I. Re-fit dust canister and push back into position. When emptying any vacuum cleaner, it is difficult to avoid exposure to dust. To minimise this risk, please ensure that you encase the dust canister in a large bag to empty it. Remove the dust canister and close the bag as tightly and quickly as possible and dispose of this immediately. It is advisable to wear disposable gloves and a face mask while emptying the cleaner. If at all possible, ask a non allergy sufferer to empty the dust canister when required. G FILTERS Cleaning To maintain suction the pleated filter must be cleaned using the cleaning dial each time the dust canister is emptied. To clean, turn the filter cleaning dial fi clockwise several times G before emptying. fi 2 3 Pleated filter In addition to cleaning the H pleated filter with the cleaning dial each time the dust canister is emptied, it is recommended to regularly remove and wash (or thoroughly brush off) the pleated filter. To thoroughly clean the filter, it can be washed in warm water (no detergent). See `Cleaning the dust canister filter assembly' section for a description of how to access the pleated filter. 4 5 > I 5 73373 rev3 10/1/08 14:51 Page 6 J Cleaning the dust canister filter assembly 1 Operate the filter cleaning dial fi several times and empty the dust canister over a bin. To access the filter assembly, rotate the dust canister lid anti clockwise and remove from the dust canister J. Turn the central mesh filter ~ clockwise to remove and clean as required K. Detach the pleated filter ^ from the dust canister lid by a firm pull/twist action L. Both the mesh and pleated filters may be washed in warm water (no detergent). [. . . ] Therefore it is vital to retain your original till receipt or invoice to indicate the date of initial purchase.
