Care instructions · Examine frequently for any signs of wear or damage to the blanket, switch or cord. In case of damage or misuse, please return immediately following instructions under servicing. · During the summer, the blanket can be used to air the mattress. [. . . ] WARNING: Only the electric blanket should be connected to the dual 3 S5 Rev 2 21/7/04 1:54 PM Page 4 Overblanket · Your overblanket should as the name suggests, be used ABOVE not underneath the occupant of the bed. It can also be used inside the duvet cover. Inside the duvet cover The overblanket is designed to enable it to be placed inside the duvet cover with a duvet of up to 12. 5 tog if desired. 1 It should be carefully inserted into the duvet cover BELOW the duvet, ensuring that it is spread smoothly and that there are no folds in the overblanket (see diagram B). These can be used to sew it to the duvet with a simple stitch to help prevent the blanket from moving inside the duvet cover. · If the duvet cover is smaller than normal size it is permissable for the side edges of the overblanket (no more than 3" or 75mm) to be folded over to allow it to fit inside the duvet cover. WARNING: On no account should the central, heated area of the blanket be folded for this purpose. The electric lead should be located at the open end of the duvet cover at the bottom of the bed. Under the duvet cover 1 The bed should be made as normal, with a bottom sheet covering the mattress then a top sheet above the bed occupant, then the heated overblanket, then the duvet or covers (see diagram A). WARNING: Do not fold over the top part of the blanket or tuck in any wired parts. All night use 1 Select the required timer off setting. 2 Set the heat setting on the control switch to the low/minimum heat, the light indicator will show a green light to indicate that the all night setting has been selected. · This setting will provide safe and comfortable heat to sleep on all night. WARNING: Always ensure that the heat setting is moved to the OFF position when you get up the next day. Preheating the bed 1 Turn the blanket on by selecting one of the timer off settings /, < or Â. 2 Move the heat setting on the control switch to maximum heat, the light indicator will show a red light to indicate that the preheat setting has been selected. Allow approximately 10-20 minutes for a light heat and a further 2030 minutes for the blanket to heat the bed thoroughly, although this time may vary depending on room temperature. Braille markings · Braille markings are located on the back of the switch to help identify the direction of the heat level in the dark, or if visually impaired. · The highest heat level pre-heat is identified by 3 raised nodules mid level by 2 raised nodules low level (all night) by 1 raised nodule. 5 S5 Rev 2 21/7/04 1:54 PM Page 6 Setting the timer 1 To program the heat to turn on in 3 hours time, move the timer button to the unfilled 3 symbol . 2 When you get into bed, change the heat level to low, all night level. The heat will turn off after 9 hours, unless an alternative timer off setting is selected. 3 To program the heat to turn off after a set number of hours, move the timer button to the filled hour symbol /<Â. For example, to set to turn heat off after 1 hour, move the button to the 1 /. · Note: The timer function will switch the blanket off after the selected time. In the case of damage, or for routine inspection every 2 years, return the blanket to the service department (see address below). A standard service charge (inclusive of packing and return carriage) is made for routine inspection where no repair is found to be necessary. If the blanket fails to operate, check the following before returning: 1 Ensure that the plug and socket have not become disconnected. [. . . ]
