Care instructions · Examine frequently for any signs of wear or damage to the blanket, switch or cord. In case of damage or misuse, please return immediately following instructions under servicing. · During the summer, the blanket can be used to air the mattress. [. . . ] However, if only one socket is accessible, then a dual adaptor should be used. WARNING: Only the electric blanket should be connected to the dual 3 S2 Rev 2 21/7/04 1:49 PM Page 4 Underblanket with tie tapes · Use only as an underblanket and do not use above the occupant of the bed. · The blanket must be secured to the mattress in the following manner. Place the blanket directly on the mattress and ensure that a space of 10-15cm (4-6 inches) is left between the bottom edge of the blanket and mattress. · WARNING: Ensure the blanket is not folded, rucked or creased. When in use do not cover with pillows. Mattress protectors with elasticated skirt 1 Place the mattress cover directly on the mattress with the control switch end at the head of the bed. 2 Fit the shaped corners to the mattress and turn the elasticated edges of the skirt under the mattress (see diagram B). · Ensure all creases are smoothed out and the skirt fits tightly round the sides of the mattress. Fitting instructions 1 At the starting position the tape must be passed under the corner of the mattress, threaded up through the centre eyelet, passed under the adjacent corner, threaded through both eyelets on the long side of the blanket, passed under bottom corner, threaded through centre eyelet, passed under the remaining corner and finally tied securely to the corner eyelet at the finish position (see diagram A). · If the blanket is stretched too tightly, not allowing for `give' of mattress when the bed is occupied, distortion of the edges may take place. All night use 1 Move the heat setting on the control switch to heat level 1 or 2. · This setting will provide safe and comfortable heat to sleep on all night. WARNING: Always ensure that the heat setting is moved to the OFF position when you get up the next day, or after airing the bed. Preheating the bed 1 Move the heat setting on the control switch to heat level 3 or 4, depending on the level of the heat required. Allow approximately 60-90 minutes for the blanket to heat the bed thoroughly, although this time may vary depending on the room temperature and type of bedding used. Braille markings · Braille markings are located on the back of the switch to help identify the direction of the heat level in the dark, or if visually impaired. · The highest heat level pre-heat is identified by 3 raised nodules mid level by 2 raised nodules low level (all night) by 1 raised nodule. 5 S2 Rev 2 21/7/04 1:49 PM Page 6 Washing instructions WARNING: Check if the blanket is suitable for machine washing by checking the label attached to the blanket. · Do NOT dry clean · Do NOT iron · Only use in a washing machine with a drum large enough to take the blanket without forcing it in. 1 Before washing ensure that you detach all the controls from the blanket. 2 Measure the blanket so it can be stretched back to its original size whilst wet. Hand washing 1 Unplug the blanket from the power socket. 2 Disconnect the control switch and cord from the blanket by lifting the locking lever over the raised button and pull apart. [. . . ] A standard service charge (inclusive of packing and return carriage) is made for routine inspection where no repair is found to be necessary.
