Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Emergency Alarm - produces a loud, high-pitched beep you can use as an emergency signal. Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) - provides drift-free FM reception with reduced sound distortion. Multiple Power Options - lets you power your radio from internal replaceable batteries (not supplied), a supplied rechargeable battery pack powered by dynamo. [. . . ] 5 When the radio does not operate properly or the sound weakens, replace the AA batteries. If the unit is not to be used for a prolonged period, remove the batteries to avoid leakage. In the interests of environmental safety : dispose of batteries safely. 3 4 Using Rechargeable Batteries Your radio has a built-in power dynamo which can charge the internal rechargeable battery pack and let you play your radio without the AA batteries. When you rotate the crank handle for as little as 2 minutes, the dynamo recharges the Ni-MH battery which powers the radio for approx. Follow these steps to power your radio using dynamo and the rechargeable battery pack. Caution: The battery packs polarized plug fits into the socket only one way. Radio operation time depends on the number of turns and the time per turn. For example, approximately 2 turns per second for 2 minutes will provide about 30 minutes of radio operation at a medium volume level. Replace the Ni-MH battery when the play time reduces to an unacceptable level. 2 Unplug the rechargeable battery pack connector and lift the pack out of the compartment. 3 Insert a new battery pack plug into the socket and place the battery into the compartment. Caution:The supplied battery pack plug has the red wire toward the top of the radio when inserted correctly. To ensure proper polarity, only use the supplied or recommended replacement battery pack. OPERATION PLAYING THE RADIO 1 Rotate DYNAMO/BATT switch to BATT if you have installed AA batteries. To power the radio using the Ni-MH pack with the generator, rotate DYNAMO/BATT switch to DYNAMO. Using the display light Hold down LIGHT to illuminate the dial in low-light conditions. Note: The emergency alarm takes 4 to 5 seconds to start after the button is pressed. Using earphones (not supplied) To listen to the radio privately, connect earphones with a 3. 5-mm plug to the jack beneath the rubber flap on the side of the radio. [. . . ] Make sure all batteries are inserted according to the proper polarity. If the unit is not used for a long period of time (more than 1 month), remove all batteries from their compartment to avoid possible leaking. Whilst using the earphones do not operate the emergency alarm. + Morphy Richards products are intended for household use only. [. . . ]
