Please read these instructions carefully in order to achieve the best possible performance from your 9 Band World Radio. Using your radio in Europe When using your radio in Europe the BBC World Service can be heard on the following wavebands and frequencies:WAVEBAND FREQUENCY IN MEGAHERTZ (MHz) SW1 SW2 SW3 SW4 SW5 SW6 IMPORTANT 6. 180 7. 115 9. 410 11. 780 15. 485 17. 640 6. 195 7. 120 11. 785 15. 575 17. 705 7. 150 7. 325 Not all the frequencies will be audible in all parts of Europe, the listener should try each frequency in turn as some are not used all the time and can change according to atmospheric conditions or because of interference. Batteries 1. Remove the battery compartment cover (4) located at the rear of the unit by pressing in and sliding it downwards. Insert the batteries 4 x `AA' LR6 (Not provided) Replace the battery compartment cover (4) by sliding it upwards. 2. If the unit is not to be used for a prolonged period of time, remove the batteries in order to avoid battery leakage. Dispose of batteries safely. External Power Supply (not included) The radio can also be operated with a 6V DC mains adaptor with a negative centre pin output. Simply connect the adaptor output into the external power input socket (13). Maintenance Do not expose your radio to extremes of temperature. The product should be kept in a warm environment free from dust and damp. Use of detergents may damage the finish. 5 Radio Operation To turn the radio on/off 1. To turn the radio off, slide the Power On/Off switch (9) downwards. To select desired waveband 1. Select the desired waveband FM, MW, LW or SW with the waveband selector switch (7). If selecting SW, proceed by operating the short waveband selector switch (6) for SW bands 1-6. 2. Tuning 1. When tuning in an FM or SW programme, the telescopic aerial (3) should be fully extended and then rotated for the best reception. Tune to the desired station by turning the tuning knob (10) to the desired station.
