[. . . ] · Do not use abrasive cleaners on the outside of the coffee maker, they may scratch the surface. · Do not use the coffee maker for anything other than its intended purpose. Product safety · Never use warm or hot water to fill the water reservoir. · Do not overfill the water reservoir. Treating scalds · Run cold water over the affected area immediately. Do not stop to remove clothing, get medical help quickly. Personal safety · Ensure the lid of the glass jug is securely in place before pouring. [. . . ] We suggest one rounded dessert spoon for every cup, but individual tastes will vary. Ensure the filter is sitting properly in the filter holder and do not fill above the mesh line. 5 Select the strength of coffee required, using the strength selector on the resevoir lid. 6 Slide the jug into the coffee maker ensuring it sits correctly on the hot plate. The jug lid must be in place during the brewing process, otherwise the non-drip valve will not open, causing the filter to flood. 7 Plug the filter coffee maker in at the wall socket and switch the coffee maker `ON'. 8 Hot water will start to flow through the coffee grounds and into the glass jug as coffee. The anti-drip valve will prevent any remaining coffee dripping onto the hot plate. While the coffee maker is switched ON the hot plate will keep the coffee warm. 10Switch off the coffee maker when the jug is empty or the coffee is no longer required. WARNING: The coffee maker and hot plate are hot and remain hot for some time after switching off. NOTE: The mesh will become discoloured after a while, due to the staining effect of coffee. NOTE: As a safety feature, this unit will switch off after two hours. Refilling 1 Switch off the coffee maker and allow 3 minutes to cool before refilling with cold water. 4 47039 rev1 7/2/06 8:45 AM Page 5 Control panel Red light Green light ON AUTO PROG HOUR MIN · When the required `wake-up' time is set, to exit, press the `PROG' button once until the display reverts to the time display. · If no buttons are pressed, the display will revert to the time display within 10 seconds. NOTE: The machine will not start automatically brewing the coffee, unless the automatic `wake-up' is set on AUTO. (See instructions below) To set the clock · Press the 'PROG' button once, and the `CLOCK' text will appear in the display. CLOC K To brew using the automatic `wake up' timer function NOTE: The automatic brewing function will work only if the time and the "wake up' time are set. Remember to fill the tank with the amount of water required and permanent filter with coffee too. · To activate the automatic `wake up' brewing function press twice or until the green light AUTO turns on. In this mode the coffee maker will turn on at the pre-set time and start to brew the coffee. · Press the `HOUR' and/or `MIN' buttons to set the desired time. · If no buttons are pressed, the display will revert to the time display within 10 seconds. To set `wake up' time · Press the `PROG' button twice, and the `TIMER' text will appear in the display. TIME R · To cancel the automatic `wake up brewing function press the once or until the green light AUTO turns off. Note: When the pre-set brewing time is reached the machine will automatically switch to brew mode;to switch off the machine press the button until both lights (RED and GREEN) are off. · Press the `HOUR' and/or `MIN' buttons to set the desired time when the machine should start to brew the coffee. 5 47039 rev1 7/2/06 8:45 AM Page 6 To brew your coffee manually · Fill the water tank with the amount of water required and permanent filter with coffee too. · To turn off the machine press the twice or until the red light and the green lights are off. and then operate the coffee maker with just water 3 times before making coffee. · Do not use kettle descaler unless the packet specifically states it is suitable for coffee makers. Note: The permanent mesh filter should not be used during descaling. Cleaning care Unplug the coffee maker and allow to cool.
