OFF: Slide the switch one click in the direction of the OFF arrow to turn the camera power off and retract the lens into the camera body (A-2). CLOSED: Slide the switch as far as it will go in the direction of the OFF arrow to close the lens cover (A-3). When you press the shutter release button partway down the ready lamp glows brightly, press the shutter-release button all the way down to take the picture. When the shutter-release button is pressed partway down, the self-timer/ red-eye-reduction lamp on the front of the camera will illuminate to help reduce the red-eye effect in flash pictures. Frame your subject in the viewfinder, then press the shutter-release button partway down. Press the shutter release button all the way down to take the picture.
