[. . . ] Operating and Installation instructions Steam oven DG 4080 To avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the appliance it is essential to read these instructions before it is installed and used for the first time. GirZ M. -Nr. 60 4 Warning and Safety instructions To avoid the risk of accidents to the appliance please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important information on its installation, safety, use and maintenance. The use of the appliance by the elderly or infirm or those who have not used the appliance before should be supervised by a competent and responsible person to avoid the risk of injury. [. . . ] Before this feature can be activated, you will need to change the factory default setting to "On" (this only needs to be done once, see "Settings"). ^ Select "Off" and confirm with "OK". Settings Some of the standard steam oven settings (factory default settings) have an alternative which you can select if required. Synchronise: If your appliance is fitted with a Miele|home communication module and you have signed it on to the Miele|home system, the time of day in the steam oven display will be automatically updated to match the time on the Miele|home system. You can turn this feature off if you want to set the time on your steam oven to be different from the time on the Miele|home system. Main menu You can change the order of the functions (factory default setting) in the main menu or you can replace them with you own user programmes that you use more frequently. Language J You can set the display to show the language of your choice. If you have selected the wrong language by mistake you can follow the flag symbol J to return to the Language sub-menu. Start You can decide whether you want the cooking programme to start automatically about 20 seconds after the last entry is made or to start it manually. Steam reduction You can activate or deactivate this function. It is best to deactivate it when you are cooking different types of food at the same time, e. g. when cooking whole meals and the dishes need to be put into the steam oven at different times. Remember that a lot of steam will be emitted when you open the door and that the Keeping warm function cannot be used. Time of day Display: You can choose whether you want the time of day to be displayed all the time when the appliance is switched off or for it to go out after 60 seconds. Clock format: The time of day can be set to appear either as a 24 hour or 12 hour clock. Set: Set the time of day 28 Settings Keeping warm You can activate or deactivate this function. the keypad tone which sounds each time a sensor is touched. Safety Once this setting has been changed to "On", you will be able to activate the system lock to prevent the steam oven being switched on unintentionally, by children for example. Pre-heat You can activate or deactivate this function. If pre-heating is activated, the main menu will appear in the display when the appliance is switched on. If no steam oven function is selected within a few seconds, the steam oven will begin heating up. Once the pre-heating process is finished you can place the food in the oven and select a function. If no food is placed in the oven at the end of the pre-heating process, the main menu will appear in the display after approximately 30 minutes. Units Temperatures can be displayed in °C or °F, and weights in kg or lbs. Miele{home If your appliance is fitted with a Miele|home communication module, you can use this setting to sign it on to or off from the Miele|home system. Recommended temperatures If you frequently change a recommended temperature it may be a good idea to change it permanently. You can change the temperatures within the permitted range. Showroom programme This programme is for dealers who want to demonstrate the appliance without the heating working. Factory default Water hardness The appliance can be set to the water hardness level for your area. All settings: any setting that you have altered will be reset to the factory default setting. Main menu: the main menu will be reset to the factory default setting. Recommended temperatures: recommended temperatures which have been changed will be reset to the factory default settings. 29 Display The contrast and brightness can be adjusted. Buzzer tones The volume, melody and duration can all be altered. You can also deactivate Practical tips Suitable containers Some stainless steel cooking containers are supplied with the appliance. Other containers, in a variety of sizes, both perforated and solid, are available as optional extras. When choosing the most suitable container for the particular food you are cooking, please note: ­ Use perforated cooking containers whenever possible, e. g. [. . . ] Do not connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply via an extension lead. Please ensure that the connection data quoted on the data plate match the household mains supply. Connection should be made via a suitable isolator or a double pole fused spur connection unit or fused plug and switched socket which complies with national and local safety regulations and the on/off switch should be easily accessible after the appliance has been built in. If the switch is not accessible after installation (depending on country) an additional means of disconnection must be provided for all poles. [. . . ]
