[. . . ] Operating and Installation Instructions Ventilation System DA 424 V To prevent accidents and appliance damage, read these instructions before installation or use. en - US, CA M. -Nr. 33 2 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Keep these instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future user. Read these instructions carefully before installing or using the Ventilation System. Use the appliance only for its intended purpose. , WARNING TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING: ~ a) Use this appliance only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. [. . . ] All the indicator lights go out. ^ Press the On/Off button to turn off the fan. If the procedure is not stored within 4 minutes of programming the hood will automatically default to the "old" data. ^ Press the Delayed Shut Down and grease filter button at the same time. The indicator for the grease filter timer and one of the "­/+" indicators will flash. 14 Operation Adjusting the height of the canopy Be sure that no one is above or below the canopy while it is being adjusted. While the canopy is in motion refrain from using the cooktop until the hood is at the desired position. The canopy is adjustable, allowing you to: ­ adjust the height of the exhaust hood to the installation space. ­ adjust the working space under the exhaust hood to the height of the user. Continuously moving the canopy for more than a few minutes at a time will overheat the motor. It can be used again after a short pause. ^ To raise or lower the canopy briefly touch the X or Y buttons. ^ If you press either of the buttons again, the canopy will stop moving. If you do not stop the canopy, it automatically moves to the highest or lowest position. 15 Cleaning and Care , WARNING TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING: Before cleaning or servicing the hood, disconnect it from the power supply, see "Important Safety Instructions". Avoid: ­ cleaning agents containing soda, acids or chlorides, ­ abrasive cleaning agents e. g. pot scourers or sponges which have been previously used with abrasive cleaning agents. Wait a few minutes after turning them off before cleaning. , The halogen bulbs are very hot The following instructions for cleaning "Stainless steel" surfaces and "Stainless steel colored controls" should be followed in addition to the general "Cleaning the casing" instructions. Stainless steel Stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned using a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. To help prevent resoiling, a conditioner for stainless steel can also be used. Stainless steel colored controls These controls may become discolored or damaged if not cleaned regularly. Do not use a stainless steel cleaner on these controls. Cleaning the casing Never use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, steel wool or caustic (oven) cleaners on the hood. ^ All external surfaces and controls can be cleaned with a mild solution of warm water and liquid dish soap applied with a soft sponge. Water could penetrate into the electronics and cause damage. 16 Cleaning and Care Grease filter The reusable metal grease filter removes solid particles from the vented kitchen air (grease, dust, etc). Removing the grease filter The grease filter should be cleaned every 3 - 4 weeks or whenever the grease filter indicator lights. , A dirty filter is a fire hazard. To remove the grease filter pull the locking clip forward. Support the grease filter so that it does not fall onto the cooktop. 17 Cleaning and Care Cleaning the grease filter ^ By hand: use a scrub brush with a solution of warm water and mild detergent. Do not use the pure detergent, aggressive all purpose cleaners, oven sprays, abrasive cleaning agents or limescale removers. ^ In a dishwasher: place the filter vertically in the lower basket, making sure that the spray arm is not blocked. [. . . ] Danger of injury. ^ Push the chimney upwards. ^ Remove the safety screw from the canopy. dai2259 ^ Secure the chimney using the previously removed safety screw. 28 Installation dai2262 ^ Secure the limit switch opposite the guide on the chimney (see illustration). ^ Lower the canopy to check that the limit switch is working properly. ^ Remove the safety screw and lower the chimney. dai2340 ^ To create a larger distance "S" from the cooking surface a, raise the canopy until the proper safety distance is reached. dai2264 ^ Put the safety screw back in place to secure the chimney. ^ Return the grease filter. 29 Air extraction , WARNING Danger of toxic fumes.
