GiWOZ M. -Nr. 37 2 Caring for the environment Disposal of the packing material The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal, and can normally be recycled. cling film, polystyrene and plastic wrappings must be kept out of the reach of babies and young children. Disposal of your old appliance Electrical and electronic appliances often contain materials which, if handled or disposed of incorrectly, could be potentially hazardous to human health and to the environment. [. . . ] 1 lamp 2 lamps 3 lamps 4 lamps = 25 % = 50 % = 75 % = 100 % The number of operating hours used remains in the memory, even when the appliance is switched off or there is a power cut. 15 Operation Altering the grease filter operating hours counter The grease filter operating hours counter is set at the factory for 30 hours. This can be lengthened or shortened to suit the type of cooking you do. ­ If you only cook occasionally we recommend that you still select a short time, because grease which has built up gradually over a long period of time will harden on the filter and make cleaning more difficult. The ­ /+ indicator lamps show the time which has been set: 1st lamp from the left = 20 hours 2nd lamp from the left = 30 hours 3rd lamp from the left = 40 hours 4th lamp from the left = 50 hours ^ Use the ­ /+ controls to select the desired time. If you do not confirm your selection within 4 minutes, the cooker hood will automatically revert to the "old" data. ^ Press the On/Off control to switch the fan off. ^ Press the run-on option control and the grease filter control at the same time. The indicator lamp for the grease filter control and one of the ­ / + indicator lamps will flash. 16 Operation To activate and alter the charcoal filter operating hours counter (in recirculation mode) The charcoal filter is needed for recirculation mode. On delivery, the operating hours counter for the charcoal filter is deactivated, For recirculation mode, the operating hours counter needs to be set to suit the type of cooking you do: ^ Confirm the selection by pressing the charcoal filter control. If you do not confirm your selection within 4 minutes, the cooker hood will automatically revert to the "old" data. ^ Use the ­ /+ controls to select the desired time. ^ Press the On/Off control to switch the fan off. ^ Press the run-on option and the charcoal filter controls at the same time. The indicator lamp for the charcoal filter control and one of the lamps above the ­ / + controls will flash. The ­ /+ control lamps show the time which has been set: 1st lamp from the left = 120 hours 2nd lamp from the left = 180 hours 3rd lamp from the left = 240 hours 4th lamp from the left = deactivated 17 Operation Resetting the charcoal filter operating hours counter The indicator lamp for the charcoal filter control will light up after the cooker hood has operated for the number of hours set. The charcoal filter must then be replaced with a new one (see "Cleaning and care"). Afterwards, the charcoal filter operating hours counter must be reset. Reading the charcoal filter operating hours counter To check the percentage of time set already used: ^ Press the On/Off control to switch the fan on. ^ Press and hold the charcoal filter control for about 3 seconds while the fan is switched on. The indicator lamp for the control will go out. ^ Press and hold the charcoal filter control. One or more of the indicator lamps for the ­ /+ controls will flash. Ensure that: ­ it is switched off at the isolator or at the wall socket and the plug removed, or ­ the fuse is withdrawn from the fused spur connection unit, or ­ the mains fuse is withdrawn, or ­ the screw-out fuse is removed (in countries where this is applicable). powder cleaners or cream cleaners and abrasive sponges, as well as pot scourers or sponges which have been used previously with abrasive cleaning agents. Please observe the instructions below for cleaning the stainless steel housing, the controls and glass surfaces. Important for appliances with stainless steel housing (This infomation does not apply to the controls). Stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned using the Miele E-Cloth, or with a proprietary non-abrasive cleaning agent designed specifically for use on stainless steel. To help prevent re-soiling, a conditioning agent for stainless steel such as Neoblank (available from the Miele UK Spare Parts Department) can also be used. Controls The controls may suffer discolouration or damage if soiling is left on them for too long. [. . . ] Do not connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply by an extension lead. Connection of this appliance should be made via a suitable isolator or a double pole fused spur connection unit which complies with national and local safety regulations and the On-Off switch should be easily accessible after the appliance has been built in. When switched off there must be an all-pole contact gap of 3 mm in the switch (including switch, fuses and relays according to EN 60 335). If the switch is not accessible after installation (depending on country), an additional means of disconnection must be provided for all poles. [. . . ]
