[. . . ] · Do not use tissue to clean the LCD screen, as this may damage the screen. 3 Installation Installing the Monitor · DO NOT install the monitor where sudden temperature changes may occur, or in humid, dusty, or smoky areas as fire, electric shock or damage may ensue. · DO NOT place your LCD monitor near a window as it may be severely damaged if exposed to rain, water, moisture, or sunlight. · MAINTAIN good ventilation; covering of ventilation slots or holes may cause fire. · PLACE the monitor at least 4 inches (or 10 cm) away from the walls · SAFE storage temperature of the LCD monitor is in a range of ­4ºF to +149ºF (-20ºC to +65ºC). 4 Connecting the Monitor Warning: Do not operate the LCD monitor with unspecified power supply. Usage of incorrect voltage will cause the unit to malfunction and may cause fire or electric shock. From the box, take out the monitor and place on the table, with the front side facing down. Note: To prevent damaging or scratching the LCD monitor, always keep the surface of the table clean or covered with a soft cloth when handling the monitor. Plastic rear cover 3. From the rear view of the LCD monitor, disengage and remove the plastic back cover from the stem. Stem 4. Thread the VGA connector of the VGA cable through the hole of the stem, then connect it to the LCD monitor's VGA port. Thread the DC connector of the adapter through the hole of the stem, then plug it to your monitor's DC jack. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to your computer's VGA port. Plug the power cord's female end into the AC adapter, and plug the male end into a wall outlet or power source. Turn on your computer, and then turn on your LCD monitor. The Surge Protection device should be installed between the AC Adapter and the electrical wall outlet to prevent the effects of sudden current variations from reaching and damaging the LCD monitor. 6 Adjusting the Viewing Angle Your LCD monitor is designed to allow adjustment for optimal viewing angles. You can adjust the monitor upward to 25 degrees and downward to -3 degrees. Note: Do not touch the screen while changing the viewing angle, as this may damage the screen. In addition, make sure your fingers do not get caught in any of the monitor's parts while adjusting the viewing angle. 7 Operating the Monitor The LCD monitor has been preset at the factory with the Timing shown in the "Appendix B" section to achieve optimal display. You can adjust the display to the desired brightness and sharpness by following the instructions below. The OSD includes a main menu and various submenus. Main Menu Submenu User Setting 8 Operating Procedure The buttons on the right side of the Control Panel are used to navigate the OSD. Follow the sequence below to do the following: Navigate the OSD menu item, go through the submenus, select a setting, save or cancel the setting, and finally exit the OSD item. Press the " " or " " button to select a menu item. Press the "MENU" button again to enter the selected submenu. Press the " " or " " button to select a submenu item. Press the " " or " " button to increase or decrease the value of the setting. [. . . ] When using the monitor over a prolonged period of time, a ten-minute-break per hour is recommended. 17 Special Notes On LCD Monitors The following conditions are normal with LCD monitors and do not indicate a problem. · When turning on the LCD monitor for the first time, the picture may not fit in the display area. (See the section, "Operating the Monitor" . ) · The screen may flicker during initial use. Turn off the power switch and then turn it on again; the flickering should disappear. [. . . ]
