Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Insert the flashgun base into the camera's accessory shoe and tighten by turning the knurled screw so that the flashgun cannot slip and fall out! In the event of flash shots with full light output and short recycling times with a rechargeable NiCad battery, observe an interval of at least 3 minutes after a series of 20 flashes. NEVER place material that is impervious to light in front of, or directly on, the reflector screen. The high energy of the flash light will burn the material or damage the screen if this is not observed! [. . . ] The mecablitz transmits different signals and messages to the camera when it is connected to the camera and is switched on. 1 Flash-ready indication The orange light on the mecablitz illuminates when the flash capacitor is fully primed, thereby indicating flash readiness. the flash readiness signal is transmitted to the camera where it is indicated by a corresponding display in the camera's viewfinder. On some cameras (depending on the model) the shutter is automatically changed to flash sync speed when flash readiness is reached. The flash will not be fired if the shutter is released before the flash ready light illuminates with the result that the exposure may be incorrect if the camera control circuit has already changed over to flash sync speed. 2 Automatic flash sync speed control Most system cameras automatically change to flash sync speed when flash readiness is reached. The flash sync shutter speeds may vary between 1/30th and 1/250th second, depending on the camera model. 3) The green correct exposure light briefly illuminates when flash exposure was correct. 4 Information displayed in the camera's viewer The following table only gives a general survey. The mecablitz receives its information exclusively from the connected TTL-controlled camera. If the actual distance is shorter than the minimum lighting distance, then this may result in overexposure. A strip of film must be loaded in the camera if tests are to be conducted in TTL flash mode. The effective flash range can only be checked by the correct-exposure display (o. ) if the flash is triggered by the camera and not with the manual release on the flashgun! This sensor measures the light reaching the film through the camera lens. An electronic control circuit within the camera transmits a stop signal to the flashgun as soon as the film has been exposed by the correct amount of light; the flash is then instantly cut out. The advantage of the TTL mode is that all factors influencing the exposure of the film (such as filters, change of aperture or variable aperture zooms) are taken into account. Spot , matrix or centre-weighted overall readings) offered by some cameras. Different modes of flash synchronisation are possible, depending on the camera model. Please refer to the camera's operating instructions to find out how the individual modes of synchronisation are set on the camera. [. . . ] Tilting the reflector: Hold the mecablitz firmly with one hand, and then pull the reflector head out to the front of the case with the other hand. 1 Bounced flash Contrary to the dense shadows associated with full frontal flash as a result of the sharp drop of light from the foreground to the background, bounced flash will produce a soft and uniform rendition of both the subject and the background. For this purpose the reflector can be turned up vertically (up to 80°) so that the flash is , , bounced" back from a reflecting surface (e. Tilted upwards at a sufficiently large angle so that no direct light from the reflector can fall upon the subject. [. . . ]
