Watch the audio level meter(s) and monitor the sound source you want to record. Use the Jog wheel to adjust the audio level meter(s) so that the 0 dB indicator(s) just barely flicker at the highest peak from the input signal. The OVER indicator should not light (this would result in clipping). ALC (Automatic Level Control): Automated recording level adjustment based on the level of the input signal. 6. If you are done making Menu changes to the Preset, press the MENU/STORE/UTILITY button to save your changes. Display returns to stop mode. 1. To have the SD8000 set the recording level automatically, set the Rec Level setting to ALC. Set the unit in record or record pause mode. Jog wheel does not effect the recording. Select the Play Mode menu choice: While in stop, press the MENU/STORE/UTILITY button. 2. Press the MENU/STORE/UTILITY button. The Single Playback is set and the unit returns to stop mode. 29 (P04) Single mode Single mode set the operation after completing the playback of a track in single playback mode. Selection Range Stop Next Recue Default Note (P05) Auto Cue Auto Cue skips the silence at the beginning of an audio track and pauses playback at the point where the audio begins (sound is loud enough). You can adjust how loud (dB's) the audio has to be before playback is cued. Selection Range On/Off 60 dB - 20 dB 5 dB steps Note Off (Default) 40 dB (Default) Stop: The SD8000 returns to stop mode after the track has played. Recue: The SD8000 returns to the beginning of the current track and waits in cue mode. 1. Turn the Jog wheel to tab through the sound level choices (20 through 60 dB in 5 dB steps). Note: You can press the STOP/ CANCEL button to cancel all changes at any point before completing step 6. 1. When correct, press the Jog wheel. The display returns to Single Mode. 6. If you are done making Menu changes to the Preset, press the MENU/STORE/UTILITY button to save your changes. Display returns to stop mode. 30 (C01) Remote The Remote Menu setting is for a wired remote (not supplied) plugged into the REMOTE Phone jack. There are three remote modes. Selection Range Start Pause Start Pause TR Manual Track Default Note (S01) Date The date is written on each audio track (file) when the track is started. When an audio track is viewed on a computer, this date appears as when the file was "Created". Start Pause: During recording or playback, close to start, open to pause.
