[. . . ] The low-frequency transducers are two 8inch carbon fiber woofers suitable for difficult climatic environments. The system includes a high-level crossover network that features markedly lower (than conventional) induction values in series with the woofer. The benefit is delay reduction, reduced phase shift and superior transient response. [. . . ] 3 Recommended Amplifier is a power capability value that should be taken as a guide. using the inverse square law. Listed sound pressure represents an average from 300 Hz to 3 kHz. 2 O Fo F66 PAAG E SE S PG PA281 Compact Two-Way Speaker System PA281 Vertical Polars 120° 90° 60° 120° 90° 60° 150° 30° 150° 30° 200 Hz 250 Hz 180° 36 12 500 Hz 630 Hz 180° 36 12 0° 315 Hz 400 Hz 0° 800 Hz 1 kHz 210° 330° 210° 330° 240° 270° 300° 240° 270° 300° 90° 120° 60° 120° 90° 60° 150° 30° 150° 30° 1. 25 kHz 1. 6 kHz 180° 36 12 3. 15 kHz 4 kHz 180° 36 12 0° 2 kHz 2. 5 kHz 0° 5 kHz 6. 3 kHz 210° 330° 210° 330° 240° 270° 300° 240° 270° 300° PA281 Vertical Off-Axis Frequency Response (UP) 90° 10 Attenuation (dB) 120° 60° 0 0 deg 10 deg 10 20 deg 30 deg 150° 30° 20 40 deg 100 1000 10000 20000 8 kHz 10 kHz 180° 36 12 30 20 0° Frequency (Hz) 12. 5 kHz 16 kHz 10 PA281 Vertical Off-Axis Frequency Response (DOWN) 0 deg 10 deg 10 Attenuation (dB) 210° 330° 0 20 deg 30 deg 240° 270° 300° 20 40 deg 100 1000 10000 20000 30 20 Frequency (Hz) 3 O Fo F66 PAAG E SE S PG PA281 Compact Two-Way Speaker System PA281 Horizontal Polars 0° 330° 12 0° 30° 330° 12 30° 300° 36 60° 300° 36 60° 200 Hz 250 Hz 270° 90° 315 Hz 400 Hz 270° 90° 500 Hz 630 Hz 800 Hz 1 kHz 240° 120° 240° 120° 210° 180° 150° 210° 180° 150° 0° 330° 12 0° 30° 330° 12 30° 300° 36 60° 300° 36 60° 1. 25 kHz 1. 6 kHz 270° 90° 2 kHz 2. 5 kHz 270° 90° 3. 15 kHz 4 kHz 5 kHz 6. 3 kHz 240° 120° 240° 120° 210° 180° 150° 210° 180° 150° 0° 330° 12 PA281 Horizontal Off-Axis Frequency Response 10 30° Attenuation (dB) 0 0 deg 10 deg 300° 36 60° 10 20 deg 30 deg 8 kHz 10 kHz 270° 90° 12. 5 kHz 16 kHz 20 40 deg 100 1000 10000 20000 30 20 Frequency (Hz) 240° 120° 210° 180° 150° 4 O Fo F66 PAAG E SE S PG PA281 Compact Two-Way Speaker System Frequency Response is measured on-axis at a distance referenced back to 1m at 1-watt drive. The two low-frequency transducers shall be cone type loudspeakers having cone diameters of at least 8 inches/203 mm. They shall have voice coils of at least 3 inches/76 mm in diameter and carbon fiber diaphragms. Sensitivity shall be at least 92 dB when measured at 1 m with an input of 1 watt. The high-frequency section shall have a compression driver with a titanium diaphragm of at least 1. 75 inches/44 mm in diameter. It shall be connected to a constant-directivity horn having a throat diameter of at least 1 inch/25 mm and a nominal coverage pattern of 100° horizontal by 85° vertical. Sensitivity shall be at least 107 dB when measured at 1 m with an input of 1 watt. The system shall be crossed over by an internal, highlevel, passive network having a response of 12 dB/octave. The lowpass section of the network shall have minimum inductance in series with the low-frequency drivers. The high-pass section of the network shall be equalized to optimize the performance of the constant-directivity horn. A dynamic high-frequency protection circuit based on a low-value, lowmass filament resistor shall limit the current available to the compression driver. [. . . ] The two-way loudspeaker system shall be a model PA281 manufactured by Mackie Designs. PA281 Electronic files for this product available at: www. mackie. com This Specification Sheet PA281. PDF Mackie Designs continually engages in research related to product improvement. New material, production methods, and design refinements are introduced into existing products without notice as a routine expression of that philosophy. For this reason, any current Mackie product may differ in some respect from its published description, but will always equal or exceed the original design specifications unless otherwise stated.
