[. . . ] If you need to connect the Transit to a home stereo system, you may obtain a cable or adapter with a 1/8" stereo plug on one end and two male RCA plugs on the other. This output also boasts an enhanced current drive for use with a pair of headphones. E N G L I S H Transit USB Features Software Installation Your Transit USB comes with driver software that allows it to communicate with your particular computer (Mac or PC) and operating system. Please locate the section for your computer type and operating system and follow the instructions for installing the driver software. This diagram is an illustration of your Transit USB, with descriptions and information about its physical features, which are described here. The squared end of the cable connects to the Transit USB; the flat end connects to your computer's USB port. Do NOT connect the Transit USB to your computer until instructed to do so. USB Connector ­ Connect the squared "device" end of the supplied USB cable here. [. . . ] Choose the default "Search for the best driver for your device" and click Next. E N G L I S H 4. Once the driver files have successfully been installed, the CD Performance Enhancements screen will appear. By default, the performance enhancement settings for CD and DVD playback will be selected. It is recommended you leave them selected unless you are certain that your hardware is incompatible with these settings. 7. Windows will ask you for the location of the driver, uncheck all boxes except "Specify Location" and click "Next". 5. After the driver files have been installed, you will be prompted to restart your computer. 16 17 E N G L I S H 8. Windows will ask " What do you want to install?" Select the default "The updated driver (Recommended)" and click "Next". 11. The New Hardware Wizard will write the remaining files to your system. When the installation is complete, click Finish. E N G L I S H 9. In some cases, Windows may ask you to insert your Windows CD-ROM. If so, insert the CD and, using the Windows Explorer menu, navigate to your CD-Rom drive. After the installation is complete, you may double-click on the M-Audio Transit USB Control Panel icon to open the Transit USB Control Panel. See the section "Transit USB Control Panel" for more information on the Control Panel's features and function. Mac OS 9. 2. 2 1. Click "Yes" to continue. Insert the Transit USB driver CD into your CD-ROM drive. Click Continue in the initial installer introduction screen. 18 19 E N G L I S H Mac OS X 1. Insert the Transit USB driver CD into your CD-ROM drive and open the CD to view its contents. You will need your Administrator Password for the next step. To continue, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window that states, "Click The Lock To Make Changes. " In OSX version10. 2. 2 this authentication dialog will automatically appear. 4. An informational screen will appear next. Please read through it's contents and click Continue. 5. For first-time installations, the default Easy Install is the desired selection. . Click Install to continue. E N G L I S H 6. You will be prompted to restart your computer. 6. Enter your password and click "OK. " The next window "Welcomes You. . . " to the installation process. 8. When your computer has restarted, connect the Transit USB to your computer's USB port. Click on M-Audio Transit USB to select Transit USB as your default audio device. 20 21 E N G L I S H 7. Select your OS X hard drive. After the computer has restarted, now plug the Transit into your computer's USB Port. Select the "Sound" preference panel, and click the "Output" tab. Select "M-Audio Transit USB" to choose the Transit USB as your default output device. E N G L I S H Transit USB Audio Connnections Output Connections 8 9. When prompted, click "Continue Installation. " Your Transit USB is equipped with an analog stereo output on a 1/8" mini jack. This analog output can be connected to powered speakers, headphones or to the analog inputs of your home stereo system, using a 1/8"-to-RCA adapter. The Transit USB also has an optical digital output, sometimes referred to as a TOSLink connector. You may connect this digital output to the optical digital inputs of a home theater or stereo, CD-R or MiniDisc recorder, or any device that supports a two-channel optical digital input. When outputting a two-channel signal, the signal at Transit USB's analog and digital outputs is identical. NOTE: If you need to connect to a device with coaxial S/PDIF inputs, you may purchase the Co2 Coaxial/Optical Bi-directional Converter from M-Audio for this purpose. 10. [. . . ] In the event that M-AUDIO determines that the product requires repair because of user misuse or regular wear, it will assess a fair repair or replacement fee. The customer will have the option to pay this fee and have the unit repaired and returned, or not pay this fee and have the unit returned un-repaired. The remedy for breach of this limited warranty shall not include any other damages. M-AUDIO will not be liable for consequential, special, indirect, or similar damages or claims including loss of profit or any other commercial damage, even if its agents have been advised of the possibility of such damages, and in no event will M-AUDIO's liability for any damages to the purchaser or any other person exceed the price paid for the product, regardless of any form of the claim.
