Cancel Navigation You can turn off any of the navigation commands after you reach your destination or at any other time by using the Cancel Navigation command. The differences are minimal, but some of the screenshots in this manual may not perfectly match some of your unit's menus. Most notably, the GlobalMap 5500C has the transparency feature and the GlobalMap 4900M does not. Find Distance to Another Location 1. To check the distance to a location, center the cursor over the desired position. A rubber band line appears, connecting your current position to the cursor's location. They can be placed on the map screen, saved and recalled later for navigation purposes. The unit has 42 different symbols you can pick from when creating an icon. Icons are similar to waypoints, but they do not store as much information as waypoints do. You can't use a menu to navigate to icons as you can with waypoints. (But you can use the map cursor and navigate to any icon on the map. ) You can create an icon at the cursor position on the map, or at your current position while you are navigating. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the location you want to mark with an icon.
