[. . . ] After pressing the add button, the menu shows the Name, Number, and Ring Default with the cursor flashing in the first character of the Name area. Entering Directory Names, Numbers and Ring Default After pressing add, the user is prompted to enter a Name. If the 2 is NOT pressed again before the cursor flashes, the phone accepts the A as the entry and it moves to the next position. To obtain a different letter/number associated with the 2 (a, b, c, 2, A, B, C), press 2 again before the cursor flashes. The letters/numbers are displayed at the bottom of the screen and the letter/number that is entered is highlighted. The first letter in a directory name defaults to a capital letter and subsequent letters in the name defaults to lower case. Each time the delChr soft key is pressed one letter from the entered string is removed from the display. To enter a phone number into the directory, simply dial the number including the 1 and the Area Code (for example, 14085721111). The same screen can be used to set the phone to a distinctive ring for each caller. To set the ring, move the cursor to the Ring Default area by pressing the down arrow button after entering the phone number instead of pressing save per above. Use the arrow button to scroll to and highlight the ring for this person and press the select soft key. After the information has been saved, the phone displays the directory with the name and number. Note Be sure to press the save button after entering information. Otherwise, the information is not saved and will not appear in the directory. This section provides directions for setting up and using speed dial numbers. Alternatively, press the Menu button and scroll down until SpeedDial is highlighted and then press the select soft key. The Speed dial menu indicates numbers available for assignment as <Not Assigned>. To assign an entry to an available number, press the number (or scroll down until it is highlighted), then press the edit soft key. To enter a number or a letter, press the appropriate number. There are two options to create a speed dial entry: · · Enter a telephone number, an IP address or a URI into a speed dial memory location. As the user enters in letters, the phone displays names in the directory that match the letters displayed. Use the scroll buttons at any time to highlight to the name or type the name in completely. The entry is added to speed dial. Press the delChr soft key if a mistake is entered. Pressing the delChr soft key removes one letter from the entered string at a time. There are two ways to use speed dial entries: · · Dial the speed dial number and then lift the handset.
