Flash memory refers to the memory added by installing an optional flash memory card in the printer. Warning--Potential Damage: Do not turn off the printer while the flash memory is formatting. Notes: · An optional flash memory card must be installed in the printer and operating properly for this menu item to be available. · No cancels the format request. · Selecting Yes deletes all data stored in flash memory. Defragment Flash No Yes Prepares the flash memory to receive new data by retrieving lost storage space Warning--Potential Damage: Do not turn off the printer while the flash memory is defragmenting. Notes: · An optional flash memory card must be installed in the printer and operating properly for this menu item to be available. The optional flash memory card must not be Read/Write or Write protected. · No cancels the defragment request. · Yes reformats the flash memory after transferring all downloads to regular printer memory. When formatting is complete, the downloads are loaded back into flash memory. Understanding printer menus 94 Menu item Hex Trace Activate Description Assists in isolating the source of a print job problem Notes: · When Activate is selected, all data sent to the printer is printed in hexadecimal and character representation and control codes are not executed. · To exit Hex Trace, turn the printer off or reset the printer. Coverage Estimator Off On Provides an estimate of the percentage coverage of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black on a page. Note: Off is the factory default setting. PDF menu Note: Certain options are not available on selected printer models. PostScript menu Menu item Print PS Error On Off Font Priority Resident Flash Description Prints a page containing the PostScript error Note: Off is the factory default setting. Establishes the font search order Notes: · Resident is the factory default setting. · A formatted flash memory option card or printer hard disk must be installed in the printer and operating properly for this menu item to be available. · The flash memory option or printer hard disk cannot be Read/Write, Write, or password protected. · Job Buffer Size must not be set to 100%. PCL Emul menu Menu item Font Source Resident Download Flash All Description Specifies the set of fonts used by the Font Name menu item Notes: · Resident is the factory default setting. It shows the factory default set of fonts downloaded into RAM. · Flash settings show all fonts resident in that option. · Flash option must be properly formatted and cannot be Read/Write, Write, or password protected. · Download shows all the fonts downloaded into RAM. · All shows all fonts available to any option. Font Name Courier Identifies a specific font and the option where it is stored Notes: · Courier is the factory default setting. · Courier shows the font name, font ID, and storage location in the printer. The font source abbreviation is R for Resident, F for Flash, and D for Download. Symbol Set 10U PC-8 12U PC-850 Specifies the symbol set for each font name Notes: · 10U PC-8 is the US factory default setting.
