Incremental Recording (IR)­ADVDwritingprocessthatissimilartotheSessionatOnce(SAO)CD-Rwritingmethod;files maybeaddeddirectlytotheDVD-Rdisconerecordingatatime, insteadofrecordingthefilestoaharddrivebeforewritingthedisc. Theminimumrecordedsize, though, mustbeatleast32KB(evenifthefiletoberecordedissmallerthanthat), andcapacitiesandwritespeedsaredecreasedduetotheoverheadofcombinedlead-in/outareasanddata. Also, thedisc mustbefinalizedbeforeitmaybeplayedbackbyadriveotherthanthedriverecordingthedisc. Multi-Border Recording (MBR)­ADVDwritingprocessthatisverysimilartoIR, MBRallowsyoutomakeanIRdiscand thenplaythediscbackonadevicethatrecognizesthistypeofrecordingmethod. MBRcreatesaveryshortboundaryzone aroundarecordingsessionsoacompatibleplayerorDVD-ROMdrivedoesnotattempttoplaybeyondtheborderofthe recordedarea, insteadallowingtheunfinalizeddisctobereadbyaplayerthatsupportsthisrecordingmethod. Restricted Overwriting (RO)­ADVDwritingprocessthatonlyappliestoSlimDVD±RWdiscs. Withthismethod, ifadisc hasalreadybeenwrittento, newdatasegmentscanberandomlyinsertedanywherewithintherecordedboundary. New data, however, canonlybeaddedtoanareaofthediscthathasalreadybeenrecordedoverandfromthepointwherethe lastsessionwasstopped. Session at Once (SAO)­ADVDwritingprocesswhichissimilartoDAO, wherealloftheinformationiswritteninonesession, butSAOallowsfortheabilitytobeginanothersessionandrecordatalatertime.
