[. . . ] OPERATION GUIDE FS-2100D/FS-2100DN FS-4100DN/FS-4200DN/FS-4300DN This Operation Guide is for models FS-2100D, FS-2100DN, FS-4100DN, FS-4200DN and FS-4300DN. This Operation Guide is intended to help you operate the machine correctly, perform routine maintenance and take a simple troubleshooting action as necessary, so that you can always use the machine in good condition. We will not be liable for any damage caused by the use of third party supplies in this machine. A label shown in the illustration assures that the supplies are our own brand. Included Guides The following guides are supplied with the machine. [. . . ] The Ready screen appears. 3 4 Error (Error tone setting) Press  or  to select whether the preparation completed tone is enabled. The preparation completed tone setting is set and the Buzzer menu reappears. When On is selected in this setting, a tone sounds when a problem such as running out of paper or a paper jam occurs during printing. The default setting is On. Error: a b 1 Off 2 *On ********************- 1 2 In the Buzzer menu screen, press  or  to select Error. The Error screen appears. 3 4 Press  or  to select whether the warning tone is enabled. The warning tone setting is set and the Buzzer menu reappears. Keyboard Confirm (Keyboard confirmation tone setting) When On is selected in this setting, a tone sounds each time a USB keyboard is used. The default setting is Off. 1 Keyboard Confirm: a b 1 *Off ********************2 On In the Buzzer menu screen, press  or  to select Keyboard Confirm. The Keyboard Confirm screen appears. 2 3 Press  or  to select whether the keyboard confirmation tone is enabled. 4-80 Operation Panel 4 Press [OK]. The Keyboard Confirm tone setting is set and the Buzzer menu reappears. RAM Disk Setting (Using the RAM disk) The RAM disk is a memory space shared within the printer memory that can temporarily store print jobs. The stored print job can then be used to print multiple copies of the job reducing the total amount of time required to print the whole job. It acts similar to the SSD except that the data is effective only when the printer is powered up. To use the RAM disk, activate and enter the desired size of the RAM disk in the manner described below. The maximum RAM disk size can be calculated as follows: When the RAM disk is activated = The maximum RAM disk size is 16 MB (or 4 MB on FS-2100D) (when no options are attached. ) When the optional memory is installed = The maximum RAM disk size is 1/2 of the total optional memory installed By default, the RAM disk is set to On. To activate RAM disk in the printer's memory, first you must set the RAM disk mode to On and set the desired data size for the RAM disk as described in the following section. This allows you to perform the following operations on the RAM disk. Note The printer supports three types of storage device; SD/SDHC memory card, optional SSD (HD-6), and RAM disk. The SD/SDHC memory card and optional SSD (HD-6) are installed into the dedicated slots of the printer. IMPORTANT The RAM disk can not be used when an optional SSD (HD-6) is installed. When the printer is reset or turned off, the stored data will be erased. If the size of the RAM disk is set too large, the printing speed may decrease or the memory may become insufficient. The options available in RAM Disk Setting are as follows: • RAM Disk Mode (Setting the RAM disk). . . 4-82 • RAM Disk Size (RAM disk size setting). . . 4-82 1 RAM Disk Setting: a b 1 RAM Disk Mode ********************2 RAM Disk Size [ Exit ] In the Device Common menu, press  or  to select RAM Disk Setting. The RAM Disk Setting menu screen appears. 2 4-81 Operation Panel RAM Disk Mode (Setting the RAM disk) Selecting On in this setting enables the RAM disk. 1 RAM Disk Mode: a b 1 Off 2 *On ********************- In the RAM Disk Setting menu, press  or  to select RAM Disk Mode. The RAM Disk Mode screen appears. 2 3 4 RAM Disk Size (RAM disk size setting) Press  or  to select whether the RAM disk is enabled. The RAM disk setting is set and the RAM Disk Setting menu reappears. Use this procedure to set the amount of memory used for the RAM disk. 1 RAM Disk Size: (1-16) /*16-MB a b In the RAM Disk Setting menu, press  or  to select RAM Disk Size. The RAM Disk Size screen appears. 2 3 Use the numeric keys or press  or  to set the amount of memory to be used as a RAM disk. [. . . ] It is nonvolatile semiconductor memory where the data remains even when the power supply is cut. These memory cards have bigger capacities than SD memory cards and have a guaranteed minimum transfer speed. As the file system was changed to FAT32, up to a maximum of 32 GB is supported.
