This example shows how to set up your facsimile to FAX documents at a specified time. IMPORTANT: Be sure that the correct time is displayed on the message display before sending FAXes using this method. To adjust the time, refer to Setting the Current Date and Time (Date & Time Setting) on page 2-1. NOTE: The FAX memory can hold up to 20 jobs for timer-based transmission at once. OPERATION GUIDE 4-1 Basic Functions Broadcast Transmission Broadcast Transmission lets you fax the same document to multiple destinations in a single operation. Your facsimile temporarily stores the documents to be faxed in memory, then automatically dials the FAX numbers and transmits a copy to each destination. NOTE: Up to 100 destinations can be set for the broadcast transmission. Broadcast transmission cannot be combined with the timer-based transmission. 1 [Menu] or Place the original documents to transmit in the document processor or on the platen. Connect an external telephone (not included) to your facsimile if you want to talk to the other party before sending. Sending documents without talking to the other party Sends documents after confirming connection by sound. 1 Place the original documents to transmit in the document processor or on the platen. NOTE: Only one page will be sent if set on the platen. 2 3 Press [FAX] and then [On-Hook]. Enter the destination FAX number using the numeric keys. NOTE: You can use the one-touch dial, speed dial, or manual redialing to enter the destination FAX number. Group dial cannot be used. 4 5 When the other party's FAX machine responds, press [Start]. Press [1](1. Send) on the numeric keys to start FAX. Sending documents after talking to the other party Use this mode if you want to talk to the other party before sending documents or when the other party needs to change FAX reception settings manually. 1 Place the original documents to transmit in the document processor or on the platen. NOTE: Only one page will be sent if set on the platen. 2 3 Pick up the receiver and dial the destination number. Press [Start] if talking is completed. NOTE: When the other party's fax machine responds, press [Start]. 4 Press [1](1. Send) on the numeric keys to start FAX. OPERATION GUIDE 4-3 Basic Functions Manual FAX Reception After establishing a connection with the other party, initiates reception manually by pressing [Start]. Connect an external telephone (not included) to your facsimile if you want to talk to the other party before receiving. NOTE: To receive documents manually, select Manual as described in the Reception Mode Settings on page 5-1. Receiving FAX without talking to the other party Receives FAX after confirming connection by sound. 1 2 3 When an incoming call arrives, the facsimile will ring. Press [2](2. Receive) on the numeric keys to start reception. Receiving FAX after talking to the other party Use this mode to talk to the other party before receiving FAX. 1 2 3 When an incoming call arrives, the telephone connected to your facsimile will ring. Press [2](2. Receive) on the numeric keys to start reception. 4-4 OPERATION GUIDE Basic Functions Auto FAX/Tel Switching This mode is convenient if you use a single telephone line for calling and FAX. IMPORTANT: To answer calls, you must connect an external phone (not included) to your facsimile. Charges are incurred for the sender (the other party) after the phone rings for specified set time even if receiver (you) do not answer the call. NOTE: Select Auto in the Fax Reception Settings. [Reception flow] FAX Other party sends a FAX using automatic transmission. FAX Other party sends a FAX manually. Telephone Other party calls. The facsimile and the external telephone ring for specified number of times. (Calling charges are incurred form this point. ) The FAXed document is received automatically from the sender (Automatic FAX reception). The facsimile rings for 30 seconds. If the receiver is not picked up after 30 seconds, the facsimile receives. ) Incoming calls can be answered if the receiver is picked up and [Stop/Clear] on the operation panel is pressed. After the sender starts transmission, press [Start] and then [2](2. Receive) on the numeric keys to start reception. NOTE: FAX can be received manually after talking is completed. If the memory reception is selected, your facsimile cannot receive documents. To send documents, reduce the number of pages to be sent at once, or select lower image quality.
