"`" shows electrical power standby and "!" shows ON. Video tapes recorded with this video recorder in the LP (Long Play) mode cannot be played back on a single-speed video recorder. Press OK to set the code. Press the number key "1" for A, "2" for B, "3" for C or "4" for D. On the recorder C Display the code. ? Press 4 on the recorder for over 5 seconds while the recorder is turned off. The code currently set appears on the front display panel. If the code displayed on the front display panel is different from the code set on the remote control, go to step D. Press 8 on the remote control. The code currently set on the remote control will be applied to the recorder. D Change the recorder's code. 53 TV Multi-Brand Remote Control Your remote control can operate the basic functions of your TV set. In addition to JVC TVs, other manufacturer's TVs can also be controlled. A Set the TV brand code. Before performing the following steps: Turn off the TV using its remote control. Slide TV/CABLE/SAT to the left and keep S-VHS pressed during this step. Press 1 on the recorder's remote control to turn on the TV and try operations ( step B). Once you have set the remote control to operate the TV, you do not have to repeat this step until you replace your remote control's batteries. If the TV does not function with one code, try entering another. B Operate the TV. ? Press the corresponding button: 1, TV/VCR, TV PR +/­, TV AV, TV %+/­ (Volume), (TV Muting), number keys. For some brands of TV, you must press OK after having pressed the number keys. IMPORTANT Although the provided remote control unit is compatible with JVC televisions, as well as many other models, it may not work with your TV, or in some instances, may have limited function capability. With televisions under Code 01, 02, 07, 10, 11, 14, 20, 23, 24, 25, 27, 33 or 35, the button corresponds to the 1-digit/2-digit entry switching button (often labelled ­ /­ ­) of your TV's remote control. With televisions under Code 01, 28, 29 or 34, the & button corresponds to the 10 + button of your TV's remote control. NOTE: The way these buttons are used is determined by your TV. Use these buttons as instructed for your TV's remote control. 54 Satellite Receiver Multi-Brand Remote Control Your remote control can operate the basic functions of your satellite receiver set. In addition to JVC satellite receivers, other manufacturer's satellite receivers can also be controlled. REMOTE CONTROL FUNCTIONS (cont. ) Before performing the following steps: Turn off the satellite receiver using its remote control. Slide TV/CABLE/SAT to the left and keep S-VHS pressed during this step. Enter your satellite receiver's brand code using the number keys, then press OK. Press 1 on the recorder's remote control to turn on the satellite receiver and try operations ( step B). A Set the satellite receiver brand code. Once you have set the remote control to operate the satellite receiver, you do not have to repeat this step until you replace your remote control's batteries. If the satellite receiver does not function with one code, try entering another. B Operate the satellite receiver. ? Press the corresponding button: 1, TV PR +/­, number keys. The number keys may not function with some satellite receivers.
