[. . . ] INSTRUCTIONS DSC UNIT UX-120 Thank you for purchasing an Icom UX-120 DSC UNIT for the IC-M59. [. . . ] w Connect the cable of the distress switch box (RC-18). - Remove the plastic cover from the cable access hole. Connect to the DSC unit. t Open the switch box and carefully mark off the 2 spots where the screws/bolts will be fastened. u Install the switch box using screws or bolts. DSC unit i Reassemble the switch box with the 4 screws. To RC-18 IC-M59 WARNING: Self ID programming is necessary to transmit an emergency call. Attach the supplied WARNING sticker near the transceiver's front panel so that it is clearly visible during operation. [. . . ] e Wait for an acknowledgement from a coast station. - When received, channel 16 is automatically selected. r Push and hold [PTT], then transmit the appropriate information (vessel's name, your position, nature of the distress, assistance required, etc. ) ·To cancel a distress call Push [16·CLR] to cancel the distress call. - You should make an announcement on channel 16 confirming that there is no emergency.
