The IC-F61M uhf marine transceiver s desgned and bult wth Icom's state of the art technology and craftsmanshp. Wth proper care ths product should provde you wth years of trouble-free operaton. IMPORTANT READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS carefully and completely before usng the transcever. SAVE THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL-- Ths nstructon manual contans mportant operatng nstructons for the IC-F61M uhf marine transceiver. RWARNING CAUTION NOTE RECOMMENDATION CLEAN THE TRANSCEIVER THOROUGHLY WITH FRESH WATER after exposure to saltwater, and dry t before operaton. Selective calling Non-selective calling 14 3 BASIC OPERATION Receiving and transmitting NOTE: Transmttng wthout an antenna may damage the transcever. 2 for antenna attachment. Receiving: q Rotate [VOL] to turn power ON. e When recevng a call, adjust the audo output level to a comfortable lstenng level. Transmitting: Wat for the channel to become clear to avod nterference. q Whle pushng and holdng [PTT], speak nto the mcrophone at a normal voce level. · When a tone sgnallng system s used, the call procedure descrbed at the prevous page may be necessary. w Release [PTT] to return to receve. Hold the mcrophone 5 to 10 cm from your mouth, then speak nto the mcrophone at a normal voce level. 15 BASIC OPERATION 3 · Vibration function (Depends on the verson) When the matched RX code sgnal s receved, the transcever may vbrate for a specfc tme perod, dependng on the pre-settng. NOTE: · The transcever cannot stop the vbraton suddenly after pushng any key or [PTT]. · The vbraton sound may be heard at the communcaton party, or be recorded f the recordng functon s actvated when [PTT] s pushed to stop the vbraton. D Receiving note 3 · Transmit inhibit function The transcever has several nhbt functons whch restrct transmsson under the followng condtons: - The channel s n mute condton (`Inaudble' condton; " " does not appear). (Dependng on the pre-settng) - The selected channel s a `receve only' channel. · Time-out timer After contnuous transmsson for the pre-programmed tme perod, the tme-out tmer starts, causng the transcever to stop transmttng. · Penalty timer Once the tme-out tmer starts, transmsson s further nhbted for a perod determned by the penalty tmer. 16 D Transmitting notes 3 BASIC OPERATION D TX code channel selection If the transcever has [TX Code CH Select] assgned to t, the ndcaton can be toggled between the operatng channel number (or name) and TX code channel number (or name). When the TX code channel number (or name) s dsplayed, [CH Up] or [CH Down] selects the TX code channel. USING [TX CODE CH SELECT] KEY: q Push [TX Code CH Select]-- a TX code channel number (or name) appears. e After selectng, push [TX Code CH Select] to set. · Return to the stand-by mode. r Push [Call] to transmt the selected TX code. USING [TX CODE CH UP]/[TX CODE CH DOWN] KEY: If the transcever has a [TX Code CH Up] or [TX Code CH Down] key assgnment, the programmed TX code channel can be selected drectly when pushed. D TX code number edit If the transcever has [TX Code CH Select] or [TX Code Enter] assgned to t, TX code contents can be edted wthn the allowable dgts. USING [TX CODE CH SELECT] KEY: q Push [TX Code CH Select] to enter the TX code channel selecton mode. · Select the desred operatng channel before enterng the TX code channel selecton mode f necessary. w Push [TX Code CH Select] for 1 sec. 17 BASIC OPERATION 3 e Push [TX Code CH Select] to select the desred dgt to be edted. u After edtng, push [TX Code CH Select] to set. · Return to the stand-by mode. 3 i Push [Call] to transmt. USING [TX CODE ENTER] KEY: q After pushng [TX Code CH Select], push [CH Up]/[CH Down], or push [TX Code CH Up]/[TX Code CH Down] to select the desred TX code channel. w Push [TX Code Enter] to enter the TX code edt mode. · The dgt to be edted blnks. e Push [TX Code Enter] to select the desred dgt to be edted. [. . . ] When t s connected, the transcever's waterproof ratng s equvalent to IPX7. When t s connected, the transcever corresponds to IPX7. · HM-169 speaker-microphone Rugged type speaker-mcrophone.
