Installing the Active Desktop, bundled with Internet Explorer Version 4. 0 on Windows NT, might cause this problem. (Merely disabling the Active Desktop is not effective to avoid the problem. ) Close the ThinkPad Configuration program and start it again. If you still have a problem, press and hold the power switch for 4 seconds or more; this forces the computer to turn off. Chapter 5. Solving Computer Problems 43 Troubleshooting The computer does not start from a device you want, such as a diskette drive. Refer to the Startup menu of the IBM BIOS Setup Utility. Make sure that the startup sequence in the IBM BIOS Setup Utility is set so that the computer starts from the device you want. Make sure that the device from which the computer starts is enabled by checking there is no !mark preceding the device name. The computer does not respond. IRQs for the PCI are all set as 11.
