[. . . ] TO CLEAN BATTERY AND TERMINALS Corrosion and dirt on the battery and terminals can cause the battery to "leak" power. • Disconnect BLACK battery cable first then RED battery cable and remove battery from tractor. • Wash battery with solution of four tablespoons of baking soda to one gallon of water. • Clean terminals and battery cable ends with wire brush until bright. • Reinstall battery (See "INSTALL BATTERY" in the Assembly section of this manual). Clean engine, battery, seat, finish, etc. • Keep finished surfaces and wheels free of all gasoline, oil, etc. We do not recommend using a garden hose to clean your tractor unless the electrical system, muffler, air filter and carburetor are covered to keep water out. Water in engine can result in a shortened engine life. MUFFLER Inspect and replace corroded muffler and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could create a fire hazard and/or damage. SPARK PLUGS Replace spark plugs at the beginning of each mowing season or after every 100 hours of operation, whichever comes first.
