Before attempting to start the engine, disengage all blade attachment clutches and shift into neutral. [. . . ] WARNING: Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparks from accidental grounding. WARNING: Keep battery box door closed when not used to inspect terminals. Make sure that the front wheels point straight ahead and that the steering wheel bar points across the tractor. Parking brake lever: Set parking brake lever when leaving tractor by pushing clutch/brake pedal completely down. WARNING: Be sure you understand all the controls before going any further. WARNING: Know how to stop your tractor before attempting to operate it. Push clutch/brake pedal all the way down to "brake" position. While still pushing down the clutch/brake pedal, move motion control lever to "neutral" position. To tow or move the tractor without the aid of the engine, the freewheel control knob must be pulled out and locked in position with the needle spring. Check engine oil level This engine has been shipped with summer grade oil. CAUTION: Do not run starter continuously for more than fifteen seconds per minute. To ensure proper operation and performance, it is recommended that the transmission be purged before operating tractor for the first time. This procedure will remove any trapped air inside the transmission which may have developed during shipping of your tractor. Move motion control lever to full forward position and hold for five (5) seconds. Drive tractor forward for approximately five feet then backwards for five feet. The motion control lever can be moved steplessly between S and F to ensure the required speed. [. . . ] WARNING: Disconnect spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting before attempting any repair, inspection, or maintenance. Check to see all bolts, nuts, and cotter pins are in place and secure. Keep tractor free of dirt and chaff to prevent engine damage or overheating. [. . . ]
