[. . . ] This operation will display: · date DATE CAL CAL DATA · time CAL CAL DATA · the offset characteristic of the electrode in pH units pH CAL BUF 1 pH CAL DATA · the 1st slope in percentage of the theoretical value CAL pH BUF 2 CAL DATA · the 2nd slope in percentage of the theoretical value. CAL pH BUF CAL DATA 3 26 pH VALUES AT VARIOUS TEMPERATURE Temperature has an effect on pH. The calibration buffer solutions are effected by temperature changes to a lesser degree than normal solutions. During calibration the meter will automatically calibrate to the pH value corresponding to the measured temperature (if used in conjunction with the HI7669/2W temperature probe) or to the manually set temperature. If the buffer's temperature is 20°C, the display will show pH 4. 00/7. 03/10. 06. If the buffer's temperature is 50°C, the display will show pH 4. 06/6. 98/9. 82. 27 TEMPERATURE AND mV CALIBRATION Each meter has been factory calibrated for the temperature and mV and is ready for measurements. The temperature probes and ORP electrodes are interchangeable and no temperature or mV calibration is needed when the temperature probe or the ORP electrode is replaced. If, for any reason, the temperature or the mV measurements are out of accuracy, the temperature or the mV re-calibration should be carried out. For an accurate recalibration, contact your nearest Hanna Service Center. 28 RS232C OUTPUT (HI96240 & HI96250) Connect the HI 96240 or the HI 96250 to a PC through the RS232C output (the connector is located on the top of the meter). SPECIFICATIONS: Baud Rate: Start bit: Stop bit: Parity bit: Command Prefix: Isolated 2400 1 1 none DLE SENDING COMMANDS FROM PC With terminal programs such as Telix® and Windows Terminal®, it is possible to remotely control your pH meter. Connect the meter to the PC, start the terminal program and set the communication options as follows: 8, N, 1, no flow control. Command Types To send a command to the pH meter the scheme is: <DLE> <command> <CR> The computer sends a Data Link Escape character, the command expressed as a number or a 3-character sequence) and a CR character. Note: Windows Terminal® and all other terminal programs that support the ANSI escape sequence, represent the DLE character by the string '^P' and the CR character by the string '^M'. the line '^PPHR^M' sets the range to pH. TELIX® is registered Trademark of "Deltacomm" Windows Terminal® are registered Trademark of "Microsoft Co. " 29 Commands not requiring an answer from the pH meter: PHR sets the range to pH MVR sets the range to mV (for HI 96250 only) Commands requiring an answer: PH?"-399. 9" + cr for -399. 9 mV "-1999" + cr for -1999 mV (for HI 96250 only) TM?The order of data is as follows: xx minutes (2 characters) xx hour (2 characters) xx day (2 characters) xx month (2 characters) xx year (2 characters) xxxxx offset buffer (5 characters) xxxxx offset factor (5 characters) xxxxx slope 1 buffer (5 characters) xxxx slope 1 factor (4 characters) xxxxx slope 2 buffer (5 characters) xxxx slope 2 factor (4 characters) x cr (1 characters) E. g. This is normal with electrodes and they will disappear when rinsed with water. During transport tiny bubbles of air may have formed inside the glass bulb. These bubbles can be removed by "shaking down" the electrode as you would do with a glass thermometer. If the bulb and/or junction are dry, soak the electrode in HI70300 or HI 80300 Storage Solution for at least one hour.
