PORT 2 CONNECTOR: second serial port. 1a Alternatively, on some models a single connector is provided, combining PORT 1 and PORT 2. 3 CONTACTS: on the rear of the unit, these connect to the FS/2 Communications and Charging Rack, if this option is fitted. HANDSTRAP: on the rear of the unit, this helps you hold the FS/2 securely. [. . . ] However, if power does run low, a warning BATTERY LEVEL LOW will be displayed. (After a further period of use, your FS/2 will turn itself off and will not turn on again. ) You should do one of the following: Return the FS/2 to your base or office. Or if rechargeable batteries are fitted, recharge them (see Charging batteries) or fit a fully charged battery stick (see Replacing batteries). Or fit three new AA size Alkaline batteries (see Replacing batteries). Charging batteries Charging is recommended before each working shift. Check that rechargeable batteries are fitted to your FS/2, and are oriented correctly. G Turn the unit off. G G G G G Plug the AC adaptor into the AC supply. Leave the unit to recharge, preferably for 8 hours. Turn off or disconnect from the AC supply. Alternatively, if your system includes the FS/2 Charging and Communications Rack, you can recharge a unit by placing it on the Rack. Replacing batteries G G G G G Turn your FS/2 off. Slide the fresh batteries into the battery compartment, positive end first. If you are fitting AA size batteries, it is advisable to fit the packing sleeve supplied with the FS/2. Seat it with finger pressure first and make sure that it has engaged the screw threads before tightening it with a suitable coin. Turn on and check operation. G G G If you can't turn on, contact your system provider. G After changing batteries, you MUST ensure that the battery type, capacity and power management are correctly set. (Refer to your application's user instructions. ) CAUTION: If you have changed from rechargeable to non-rechargeable batteries, warn anyone you give the unit to. Always use batteries of the same type and charge state - don't mix fresh batteries with used batteries, or rechargeable batteries with non-rechargeable ones. ATTENTION: Dispose of or recycle used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions. Nickel-Cadmium rechargeable batteries must be recycled, or disposed of properly. In case of accidental contact, flush immediately with running water. CLEANING If the screen gets dirty or smeared, clean it with a clean cloth. [. . . ] If the unit is very dirty or wet, clean it as described in CLEANING. CAUTION: There are no user serviceable parts inside the FS/2. Do not attempt to open. Electromagnetic Compatibility The FS/2 complies with EN55022 Class B. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. If the FS/2 does cause harmful interference, turn it off and consult your dealer or technician for help. [. . . ]
