If you want to set up the hi-fi system on wall shelves or in cupboards, please ensure that it is adequately ventilated. There must be at least 10 cm of space at the side, above and behind the hi-fi system. ENERGY 2 FM 88. 60MHz Selecting a preset 1 Press »TUNER« to select the frequency band (FM or MW). ­ Display: for example, »CH 3« with the frequency or the station name. CH ST 3 FM 89. 50MHz 2 Stereo/mono reception When the hi-fi system receives an FM stereo station and no name is displayed, »ST« appears in the display. If the signal from the FM stereo channel is weak, you can improve the sound quality by switching to mono reception. Note: If the hi-fi is switched on from standby, it automatically goes to mono reception. CH ST 5 FM 98. 50MHz 2 RDS information RDS (Radio Data System) is an information system which is transmitted additionally by most FM stations. When the hi-fi system receives an RDS station, the station name appears in the display, for example »FANTASY«. Note: It may take some time before RDS information is available. Searching for RDS stations 1 To search for an RDS station, press »5 or »s « as often as 6 a« necessary. ­ If the reception is strong enough, the station name appears after a short time. 21 ENGLISH TUNER MODE _______________________________________ RDS time synchronisation Some RDS stations transmit an RDS time signal. If reception is good, this time information updates the time automatically if you have selected the »CT ON« option. Time synchronisation can take several minutes, and even with good reception the accuracy depends on the time signal being transmitted. The automatic setting is always activated if the hi-fi is switched on from standby to radio mode and a suitable RDS station can be received. 22 CD MODE ______________________________________________ The hi-fi system is suitable for music CDs bearing the logo shown here (CD-DA), and for CD-Rs and CD-RWs with audio data or MP3 formats. In MP3 mode, the terms "album" and "file" are very important. "Album" corresponds to a folder on a PC, "file" to a file on a PC or a CD-DA track. An MP3 CD may not contain more than 99 albums and 400 tracks in total. The hi-fi system sorts the albums, or the tracks on an album, by name into alphabetical order. If you want to order them differently, change the name of the track or album and put a number before the name. When burning CD-R and CD-RWs with audio files, various problems may arise which could lead to problems with playback. This can be caused by faulty software or hardware settings or by the CD being used. [. . . ] Use a lint-free cloth for cleaning the CD and always wipe it from the inside out in a straight line. Do not use cleaning agents for conventional vinyl discs, nor any solvents or abrasive cleaners. Technical data This device is noise-suppressed according to the applicable EU directives.
