[. . . ] You will need to lower the number as the tension meter starts to get into the red. If you don't have enough tension on the line, the fish can get off. So you will need to increase the drag if the meter gets too far to the left. You will need less drag if you are using a lighter line, as it can break more easily. Rod position Where you are moving the rod also is a big factor in fighting a fish. When you pull back on the rod, raising it above your head, you will be putting more tension on the line and thus making the tension meter rise. Rod position also influences the direction and action of a hooked fish. Bass often tend to jump when the rod is raised high, and jumping fish often get themselves off the hook. When you see a fish starting to rise to the surface, it is often a good idea to lower your rod tip to keep him from jumping. Of course, jumping fish are exciting and fun to see, and you will see many jumping fish. But in a tournament, you will want to try to keep the fish from jumping, and thus getting off the hook. If a fish is heading to the right, you can often get him directed to the left by pulling your rod to the left. This lets you control where he is going, and lets you get him to the boat faster. Try to keep fish from getting into weeds or structures, where they can often break the line. Page 15 15 DRIVING THE BOATS The popular and high performance Nitro and Tracker boats provide an exciting and fun addition to your time on the water. The controls are listed above in the manual, and also on the in-game Help screen. The key to getting where you want to go and stopping where you want to stop is to practice steering and throttle control. Like real-world boats with high horsepower motors, you need to plan your turns and deceleration so that the boat is always in the area you want it to be. Some coves and bays will not allow a full speed 180 degree turn, so you will want to plan your navigation in advance, so you don't hit the shore or other objects, which will make you lose time or lose speed. When you are nearing or at full speed (or Wide Open Throttle, WOT) the steering will be very sensitive as on a real boat. With that said, it is very easy to drive the Trophy Bass 2007 boats, and it will just take time before you are a professional bass boat pilot. Something you won't see in real life, but that you will enjoy tremendously in Trophy Bass 2007, is the fact that your lakes have some jumps placed in them! You don't always need to use them, but they can save you some time and provide for some exciting boat racing action.
