Press the [POWER] switch in the hanger to turn on the unit if it is not already on. Open the DISTRESS button lid in the hanger and press the [DISTRESS] button about three seconds to show the following display, then release the button. [. . . ] The display then shows the message "Waiting for acknowledge, " meaning your station is awaiting acknowledgement of your distress call from a coast station.
