Before you use this unit , you need to complete connections. To record a program easily, refer to "Easy DVD recording" on pages 17-18 after connections are completed. (You CANNOT record on any copyright protected DVD disc with this unit. )

The number inside the globe refers to region of the world. A DVD labeled for a specific region can only play on the unit with the same region code.
PBC (Playback Control) for Video CD
This unit conforms to ver. 1. 1 and ver. 2. 0 of Video CD standard with PBC function. Ver. 1. 1 (without PBC function): You can enjoy playback picture as well as music CD. Ver. 2. 0 (with PBC function): While using a Video CD with PBC function, "PBC" appears on the screen and the display. Note: When playing Video CDs with PBC function, some operations (e. g. , track search and repeat tracks) cannot be performed. Cancel PBC function temporarily to perform those operations (refer to page 73). Refer to instructions in the Video CD.

Color systems
DVDs are recorded in different color systems throughout the world. The most common color system is NTSC (which is used primarily in the United States and Canada). This unit uses NTSC, so DVDs you play must be recorded in the NTSC system. You cannot play DVDs recorded in other color system.

If you want to see Disc information, press [{] when the first page of the title list is displayed or press [K] when the firsts title is selected but "Play", "Edit" or "Overwrite" is not highlighted. <DVD+RW>
