Connecting the keyboard
Plug the round plug of the keyboard cable into the keyboard port on the system unit.
Connecting the mouse to the PS/2 or serial port
You should connect a mouse with a round PS/2 connector to the PS/2 mouse port, or a serial mouse to the serial port of the system unit. It may be necessary to select a specific mouse driver in the operating system (see operating system documentation).

Only one mouse may be connected to the PC (keyboard and system unit). If you attach a serial mouse, you can disable the mouse controller in the BIOS Setup in order to free the IRQ12 for a different application. If the mouse controller is disabled, you will not be able to operate either the supplied mouse nor a mouse connected to the PS/2 mouse port.
Depending on the keyboard type, plug the other connector of the keyboard cable into the socket on the underside (left) of the keyboard or into the righthand socket on the rear of the keyboard (right).
Connecting devices with serial or parallel ports
Connect the data cable to the external device. Connect the data cable of the external device to the appropriate port on the system unit.
Connecting the mouse to the keyboard

If your mouse has an angular connector, it must be connected to the keyboard.

Most devices that you connect to the serial or parallel port require special drivers. MS-Windows already includes many drivers but if the driver you need is not on the hard disk please install it from the floppy disk supplied with the device or with the application program. If you need to change the default settings of the serial or parallel port (e. The default settings of the ports are given in the Technical Manual for the system board.
Plug the connector of the mouse cable into the left-hand socket on the rear of the keyboard. Fit the mouse cable into the corresponding guide on the underside of the keyboard.
In the mouse device connected to the keyboard the upper part (hand support with buttons) can be swivelled to the left or right. Adjust it so that your hand is in a comfortable relaxed position when using the mouse.

Connecting loudspeakers, a microphone and audio devices
Plug the data cable of the monitor into the monitor port (15-pin) of the system unit. You can switch the sytem unit off at the main switch at the rear of the system unit so that the unit consumes no energy. 15 seconds, the Power ON display is dark.
Generate Windows 95 diskettes with the MSCSD backup program (creating system diskettes) and label them using the labels supplied. Generate the utility and driver diskettes using the batch files in the \PROGS\DISKS directory and label them.

The main switch and ON/OFF switch do not cut off power voltage from the system unit. To cut off the power supply, you must pull out the power plug.
Switching the PC ready-to-operate by means of software You can put your PC into ready-to-operate mode in Windows 95 choosing Shut down in the Start menu or using the DeskOff program: Prerequisite: Your system must support switching off with software and this functionality must be enabled in BIOS-Setup (Soft Power OFF - Enabled).
Switching on the PC
Switch on the monitor (see the Operating Manual of the monitor). Use the main switch on the rear of system unit to switch the system unit on.
Exit MS-Windows (choosing Shut down in the Start menu).
The PC switches to the mode which was active when it was last switched off: If the Power ON display on the front of the system unit lights up orange, press the ON/OFF switch on the front of the system unit.
The system unit is ready-to-operate, and the the Power ON display lights up orange.

You need a Game/MIDI port and a commercially available MIDI interface box or Soundblaster-compatible MIDI adapter cable . Connect the MIDI output of your keyboard to the MIDI input of the MIDI interface box. Connect the MIDI input of your keyboard to the MIDI output of the MIDI interface box. Switch on the device.
Recording a MIDI file
Press the Record button. Save the MIDI file with File - Save.
Playing back a MIDI file
Press the Play button.
You must now also change the basic configuration of your system accordingly. Enable the MIDI interface with: Start - Settings - Control Panel - System icon Device-Manager index tab. Select the Resources index tab under Sound, video and game controllers for the setting Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 or AWE 32.
