Your Emerson Air Comfort Ceiling Fan should be properly packed to avoid damage in transit since we will not be responsible for any such damage. WARNING This product is designed to use only those parts supplied with this product and/or any accessories designated specifically for use with this product by Emerson Company. Substitution of parts or accessories not designated for use with this product by Emerson Company could result in personal injury or property damage. Check to see that you have received the following parts: a. Fan motor assembly b. Five fan blades c. One ceiling cover d. Five blade flanges e. One hanger ball/downrod assembly f. One chain coupling NOTE: Place the parts from the loose parts bag in a small container to keep them from being lost. How to Put Your Ceiling Fan Together 1. Pass the 80" motor leads through the opening in the ceiling cover. Verify that the three rubber washers are installed and are flush against the shoulder on the downrod. Screw the downrod into the motor coupling as far as possible, aligning the hole in the downrod with the hole in the 3 motor coupling (Figure 1). Pass the screw with a rubber washer under the head through the motor coupling and downrod. Position a rubber washer on the screw and securely install the acorn nut. Securely tighten the setscrew in the motor coupling. ! WARNING It is critical that the clevis pin in the motor coupling is properly installed and the setscrews securely tightened. Failure to verify that the pin and setscrews are properly installed could result in the fan falling. You can now proceed with hanging and the electrical wiring of your fan. Figure 1 4. The fan comes with the blue, black, and white leads that are 80" long. Before installing fan, measure up approximately 6 to 9-inches above top of hanger ball/downrod assembly. Cut off excess leads and strip back insulation 1/2-inch from end of leads. Turn fan assembly upside down in preparation for mounting fan blade assemblies. IMPORTANT: THE SIDE OF THE FAN BLADE HAVING THE RIB LINE MUST BE FACING UPWARDS AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2. Mount blade flanges to fan blades using three 3/16-24 x 5/16" screws per blade (Figure 2). Electrical Requirements Your new ceiling fan will require a grounded electrical supply line of 120 volts AC, 60 Hz, 15 amp circuit. The outlet box must be securely anchored and capable of withstanding a load of at least 50 pounds. ! WARNING To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury, mount fan to outlet box marked acceptable for fan support, and use screws supplied with outlet box. Most outlet boxes commonly used for support of light fixtures are not acceptable for fan support and may need to be replaced. Consult a qualified electrician if in doubt. RIB LINE (THIS SIDE UP) 3/16-24 x 5/16" SLOTTED PHILLIPS WASHER HEAD BLADE SCREW (3) If your fan is to replace an existing ceiling light fixture, turn electricity off at the main fuse box at this time and remove the existing light fixture. ! WARNING BLADE FLANGE Figure 2 ! FAN BLADE Turning off wall switch is not sufficient. [. . . ] Interchanging an adjacent (side-by-side) blade pair can redistribute the weight and result in smoother operation. 5. Fan blades out of balance. Maintenance IMPORTANT CARE INSTRUCTIONS for your Ceiling Fan Periodic cleaning of your new ceiling fan is the only maintenance that is needed. When cleaning, use only a soft brush or lint free cloth to avoid scratching the finish. Abrasive cleaning agents are not required and should be avoided to prevent damage to finish. ! WARNING Do not use water when cleaning your ceiling fan. [. . . ]
