The subwoofers reproduce the low-frequency range of the audio signal, while high-quality, full-range cabinets take care of the mid/hi frequencies and vocals. One essential advantage is that vocals are not divided between different speaker systems. Opposite-to-active 3- or 4-way configurations, difficult analysis, and measurement of sound fields become unnecessary. Since low-frequency sound is nearly impossible to locate spatially, monaural subwoofers suffice for smaller stages or rooms. On wider stages, individual subwoofer systems must be used for each side. The AC One Audio Controller also works well in active 2-way instrument reinforcement applications for keyboards, electric bass, and drums.
