Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Do not position the subwoofer in direct proximity of radiators, chimneys, stoves, ovens or any other devices or equipment that produce or emit heat. Do not cover your subwoofer, but be sure that it always has sufficient ventilation to avoid overheating. 25 Important safety regulations Power connection Under no circumstances should one ignore the safety regulations for the Power plug. The plug has two pins and a corresponding grounding terminal to serve your safety. If the supplied plug does not fit in your outlet, please contact our technical staff, who will provide you with a plug according to the safety regulations of the country you reside in. [. . . ] Additionally it offers two inputs, a symmetrical balanced (XLR) and an asymmetrical (RCA). Using the included XLR to RCA adapter the balanced XLR connection can be transformed into an equivalent RCA-input. The two input signals are then added and the subwoofer can function as a traditional subwoofer unit - for example in a two channel stereo set up - thereby reproducing the deep bass in monaural for both the left and right channels. This implies that the integrated amplifier was constructed with switches and controls specifically for its dedicated purpose. 28 Putting into operation Contour SUB 1 234 5 6 7 8 9 10 13 12 11 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Volume Adjustment of the phase Detection LED Protection LED Input sensitivity Polarity Crossover frequency 8 9 10 11 12 13 Symmetrical input (XLR) Asymmetrical input (RCA) Switch for setting of the country specific power voltage Fuse holder Power switch Power cord connection 29 Putting into operation Levels With the regulator "Calibration", the output level Mute min + 4 dB - 10 dB of the subwoofer can easily be adjusted to match the output of the mating loudspeaker system. To achieve a natural sound, you should find a position at which the deep bass channel meshes Calibration Sensitivity seamlessly into the sound picture - it should ideally not be distinctive. This adjustment is only necessary when the crossover frequency or the phase is changed. Increases for spectacular cinema-sound should be performed through the settings of the decoder. With the switch on the right of the level attenuator, the sensitivity of the inputs can be changed if the range does not lie completely perfect. Crossover frequency Crossover Frequency 80 Hz 95 Hz Flat Hz Low Pass With the switchable bass-filter it is possible to adjust the subwoofer optimally to the surrounding loudspeakers. For home theater applications, a first choice starting point of 80 Hz is usually suggested. If smaller loudspeakers with little bass extension are to be used in the system, it might however also be worthwhile to relieve these further and to cut the subwoofer off at 95Hz or even not at all. This last position "Flat" could allow the system to achieve an essentially freer and more powerful sound. Dolby, DTS and THX additionally prescribe the Bypass control for the LFE-channel in digital multi-channel recordings. 30 Putting into operation Adjustment of the phase The subwoofer offers extensive adjustment possiPhase 0º (180º) 180º (360º) bilities of the phase relationship for optimal integration with your main speakers. The phase-control makes possible variable phase between 0 ° - 180 °, or 180° - 360°, depending on how the pertinent switch is set. The regulator and the switch are to be used until the subwoofer blends in harmoniously with the rest of the system. It makes sense to make the adjustments at normal listening levels to achieve a meaningful amount of bass. The optimal adjustment setting can be tested by temporary shifting to the opposite phase. If the proper phase-adjustment has been made, the exchange will produce an audible reduction of the bass level (when set to wrong/opposite polarity at that setting). Input terminals The subwoofer offers two Mono inputs on the back side, a symmetrical (XLR) and an asymmetrical (RCA). By using the included XLR to RCA adapter Balanced Unbalanced Input an RCA-input can be created from the XLR input socket. So the left and right channel can be brought together to be used, for example, in a typical two-channel stereo system where deep bass will be reproduced through a subwoofer. Please never feed these inputs with higher voltage than typically delivered to an input of a power amplifier. [. . . ] The floor and the walls will affect the bass level as well as the acoustics. You should retain your original purchase receipt as proof for right to claim under warranty. 37 Technical data Contour SUB Frequency response Selectable low pass Max. output power 22 Hz 120 Hz 80 Hz / 95 Hz / bypassed 130 W Max.
