E 49 Stopping the motorcycle If you let go of the throttle twistgrip, the motorcycle will slow down gradually and smoothly. Then, shift down releasing the clutch, and finally change from first to neutral. To switch the engine off, simply turn the key to OFF (page 23). Important Do not leave the key turned to P for long periods or the battery will run down. Never leave the ignition key in the switch when you are leaving your bike unattended. When the key is left accidentally in the ON position and the starter button is not operated within 15 seconds, the engine control unit shuts down automatically. To avoid theft, turn the handlebar fully left and block it by pushing in the ignition key and turning it to the LOCK position.
