Each channel can support up to two hard disk drives; the first is the "Master" and the second is the "Slave. " To enter the specifications for a hard disk drive, you must first select the "Type. " There are 45 predefined types and 4 user definable types that are for Enhanced IDE BIOS. For the "Primary Master/Slave" as well as the "Secondary Master/Slave" you can select "Auto" under the "Type" and "Mode" categories. If "Auto" is selected, the BIOS will automatically detect the IDE drives and CD-ROM drive during the POST stage. Press the <PgUp> or <PgDn> key to select a numbered hard disk "Type" or type in the number and press <Enter>. Remember that the specifications of your drive must match with the drive type table. The hard disk drive will not work properly if you enter incorrect information for this category. If your hard disk drive type is not matched or listed, you can select the "User" type option to manually define your own drive type. If you select type "User, " you will need to know the information listed below. Using the keyboard, enter in the correct information and press <Enter>.
