CLR ALL (Clear All) Switch The CLEAR ALL switch (CLR/ALL) allows you to clear all channels of their SELECT, MUTE, SOLO, or REC/RDY state. To clear all channels of a state: 1 Select the appropriate STATUS mode (SELECT, tion. 3 Press the appropriate primary switches (1/A, 2/B and so on) to toggle the current STATUS mode for the desired channels. Displaying Track Name from the Channel Matrix To display a track name: The PARAM/PAGES Switch The PARAM/PAGES switch toggles the function of the Channel Matrix between Plug-In control paging and the STATUS functions. The track name is displayed in the CHANNEL/GROUP scribble strip for as long as you hold down the alpha-numeric switch. Channel Matrix and SELECT When SELECT is the active STATUS mode for the Channel Matrix switches, pressing any switch in the matrix selects the channel (its LED lights). A selected channel may be deselected by pressing its channel switch again. Unlike the fader strip SELECT switches, the Channel Matrix switches are latching. This is a convenient alternative to the two non-latching methods of selecting channels (either pressing and holding SHIFT/ADD, or a channel SELECT switch). Chapter 8: The Channel Matrix 91 Banking with GO TO and VIEW The BANK SELECT/Nudge switches are not the only method available for mapping Pro Tools tracks to ProControl channel strips. The Channel Matrix GO TO and VIEW switches provide additional methods for navigating within a session. To engage VIEW mode: 1 Press the VIEW switch. Its LED, and all chan- nel displays, flash to indicate VIEW mode. 2 Press any primary switch in the Channel Ma- GO TO The GO TO switch provides a convenient way to bring any eight contiguous channels up on ProControl faders instantly. It is used in combination with the BANK and PRIMARY switches in the Channel Matrix. To go to a specific channel/bank: 1 In the Channel Matrix section, press the GO TO Switch. 2 Press the Channel Matrix switch that corre- trix, or press a BANK switch followed by a Channel Matrix switch. ALPHA Mode The ALPHA switch locks the primary switches into Alphanumeric mode, for text entry and command selection. Individual channel names can be named or renamed at any time, in the methods described below. Several Pro Tools tasks automatically place ProControl into Alpha mode, including when naming new regions--even when the Auto-Name Regions Preference is not engaged. In Alpha mode, the PREVIOUS and NEXT switches mimic the behavior of the left/right arrow keys of the computer keyboard. To enter a channel name using ALPHA mode: 1 Double-press the channel's SELECT switch. sponds to the track position number for the track. The track is moved to the leftmost track on the ProControl surface. VIEW The VIEW switch calls channels to the faders just as in GO TO mode.
