Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] To discover all the versatile features of your Day-Light, please read this section. Check Package Contents Your Day-Light comes with the following components: · The light case, which includes three pre-installed light tubes and a built-in stand on the back; · Two legs with turning knobs for affixing to the sides of the light case; · This Users Guide and your Warranty Registration Card. Light Case Lens Removing & Installing Day-Light Tubes To reset a loose light tube or replace a burnt-out tube, please follow these instructions carefully. Unplug the Day-Light (remove both detachable legs if already assembled). Remove the nine screws on the back of the unit using a #2 Philips screw driver. [. . . ] · Push the switch to the two-lined side for the twolight setting. If all three tubes do not light up, the non-functioning light may be loose or damaged. Day-Light Users Guide 8. 9. Twist the light tube until one side of the base comes out of the socket. Now slide out or disengage the light tube from the retainer clip at the other end. To re-install the light tube, hold the tube horizontally and slide the top end into the retainer clip. NOTE: Elastics are installed for shipping safety, and are not otherwise necessary. If one of the elastics should break, you can safely discard it without affecting use of the Day-Light. Once the light tubes are installed correctly, plug the Day-Light in and check that the lights illuminate in each switch position. (If not, try again before determining that there is a problem with the light. ) 5. While grasping the entire width of the Day-Light, turn it over so that it is face down on the table. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the light tubes lock into place or they could disconnect from the socket. High Intensity Setting--Light Therapy At this setting, the Day-Light emits 10, 000 lux light intensity when sitting a distance of 12" from the light. In this event, you would sit 12" away from the light, and use the high intensity, three-light setting. The built-in stand is also a great accessory when you want to use your Day-Light for ambient lighting. Simply place it on a shelf, and choose your preferred light intensity turning on either two or three lights, depending on how far you are sitting from the light source, and what is comfortable for you in that space. Simply hang the Day-Light on a sturdy nail or hook and let the soothing light warm your room or work space. You may find the low intensity (two-light setting) most convenient in a smaller space. 5 Day-Light Users Guide Guidelines for Light Therapy Use When used correctly, your Day-Light can help alleviate the fatigue and decreased activity commonly experienced in the shorter days of fall, winter, or even into spring. Please read and follow these instructions carefully to ensure success. Duration of Session Using the Day-Light in the morning has been proven to elicit advances in the circadian rhythm phase that have been linked with the effective treatment of SAD. Sessions of this length are good to begin with, so that you can adjust according to your needs whether you require shorter or longer sessions. If you experience increased irritability, excessive energy, and/or any discomfort consistently during or after use, decrease the length of your sessions, decrease the amount of use, and/or move the light several inches further away from you. Adjusting to Light Intensity Some individuals prefer to get used to the brightness of the light before their therapy session. This can be achieved by turning the system on a short time before sitting directly in front of it, allowing your eyes to adjust more comfortably. [. . . ] Generally, using the Day-Light for more than a task light after 8 p. m. is not recommended as it may delay your onset of sleep. Importance of Daily Use If you miss sessions or discontinue use of the system during the fall or winter after establishing a regular schedule of use, you are likely to notice a difference as your body returns to its usual wintertime energy level in response to lower levels of light. Upon resumption of the lighting schedule, your previous level of energy should return within a few days. Positioning of the Day-Light Your Day-Light works well when positioned on a table or counter top so that you may comfortably read, write or talk on the phone. [. . . ]
