If the ATS shim needs to be cut, mark the ATS shim approximately 2-3mm above the top edge of the steer tube. nOTE: Most carbon steer tube compression devices rest on the top edge of the steer tube. Be sure to compensate for this added height when determining where to cut your ATS Shim. Carefully position the ATS shim so that the cut line is above the steer tube and the steer tube does not accidentally get cut. Clamp the ATS shim cutting tool over the shim and steer tube with the saw blade slot over the cut mark (Fig. Hold fork with suitable clamping device that will not damage steer tube to perform the cut.
