If the GVRP timers are set differently on the Layer 2-connected devices, the GVRP application does not operate successfully. GARP VLAN Registration Protocol (GVRP) is specifically provided for automatic distribution of VLAN membership information between VLAN-aware bridges. GVRP allows VLAN-aware bridges to automatically learn VLANs to bridge port mapping without requiring the individual configuration of each bridge and register VLAN membership.
