Creating Control Page Objects To create a Control Page Object, the Control Page itself must be in Edit mode in the current Dataframe. Select a particular object type from the Control Page Object Toolbar by clicking on it. If you want to create several instances of a single object type, hold down the shift key while clicking. Click on the open page in the Workplace Window at the location where you want to create the control. If you wish to size the control, you may do so at this point by holding down the mouse button and dragging the mouse to form a rectangle that will enclose the perimeter of the Control Page Object. The Control Page Object will be created at the location that you have specified. If you held down the shift key while selecting a Control Page Object from the Control Page Object Toolbar, you will see that the same Control Page Object type remains selected, otherwise the selection tool (arrow) is selected. In the case where the same Control Page Object type remains selected, you may create several instances of this control type very easily, simply by clicking repeatedly on various points on the Control Page. Sizing Control Page Objects There are two methods for sizing Control Page Objects while the Control Page is in Edit mode. Sizing a single Control Page Object using the mouse: 1) Select a Control Page Object to be sized by single-clicking on it. Note that a set of eight small sizing boxes will appear on all sides and the corners of the object. 2) Click on one of these small boxes corresponding to the directions in which you want to size the object. 3) While holding the mouse button down, drag the outline of the object to the desired size. Sizing one or more Control Page Objects using the arrow keys: 1) Select one or more Control Page Objects. 3) While holding down the <Shift> key, press one of the arrow keys: pressing the right arrow key increases the size of the object horizontally. pressing the left arrow key decreases the size of the object horizontally. pressing the down arrow key increases the size of the object vertically. pressing the up arrow key decreases the size of the object vertically. If you are employing the grid in the Workplace, the amount of increase/decrease is a function of the grid spacing, otherwise the amount of increase or decrease is one pixel. Page 65 Note: The characteristics of some objects may restrict your ability to size them. For example, certain text-based objects may be set to a vertical size which is fixed to the font size and cannot be sized vertically. Control Page Object Popup Menu The Control Page Object Popup Menu appears when you right-click on a Control Page Object while the Control Page is in Edit mode. It contains several menu items, many of whose functions are duplicated on the Control Page Object Toolbar.
