[. . . ] Previously, physical IQ addresses in an IQ System only had to be unique within a particular component type on a particular loop. Because of the way these virtual addresses are derived, it is important that each component in a legacy system participating in an IQ Network be assigned a unique physical IQ address, regardless of the component type or the loop on which it resides. Since its main purpose is to serve as a gateway between a legacy IQ System and an IQ Network, TCP/IQ Gateway has been designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. You can tell that it is active by the appearance of an icon in the system tray of the Windows taskbar. Right-clicking on this icon allows you to open the program's main window or close the program completely. Note: closing the program's main window does not close the program. You must select Close from the menu displayed when right-clicking on the icon in the system tray in order to completely close the program. The Main Window The main window of TCP/IQ Gateway includes three tabbed pages. The tabbed page labeled Components contains the information useful to most users - a list of all the components in the IQ System and whether the program considers their Status to be online. For a component to be considered online, the program needs to be able to communicate with it via the RS-232 link to the system interface. The page labeled Controllers is a list of each controller application that has attempted to communicate with IQ Gateway. The Connections page lists each connection made between controllers and components in the system controlled by IQ Gateway. To add a new component click the Add Component button and select it's type, loop, and address. To remove a component from the system, select the component in the list and click Remove Component. The component will no longer be visible in the list, and will not be visible to controller software (e. g. Iqwic) on the network. Page 3 You can perform a system discovery at any time by clicking the Perform Discovery button. You can upload the settings from all components by clicking the Perform Upload button. Program Setup To configure program options, select Setup->Settings from the main menu. System Dataframe When Save system configuration to System Dataframe is checked, the System Dataframe feature is enabled, and the program will save the state of the system to a file periodically as well as when the program is closed. This state includes a list of all the components in the system and their control settings. The rest of the System Dataframe settings control what happens when the program is started. [. . . ] Check Online Search Enabled to periodically check to see whether components marked offline have come online. Bind To Address If you are running the program on a computer with more than one network interface card (NIC), enter the IP address that is bound to the card that is connected to the IQ Network. Component Address Offset Page 4 In order to keep IQ addresses assigned to legacy components from clashing with other components on the network, each TCP/IQ Gateway running on the network must be assigned a unique value in this field.
