Audio Jack Introduction Facts About the Safety Alert® Traffic Warning System 11 BAND 10 8 2 5 1 3 4 6 FCC-approved Safety Alert® Transmitters emit microwave radar signals to indicate the presence of a safety-related concern. Depending on the frequency of these signals, as set on the transmitter, the outgoing signal can indicate whether the transmitter is on a speeding emergency vehicle or train, or at a stationary road hazard location. PRESS & RELEASE Quick Start Set Muting Mode PRESS & RELEASE Set Muting Mode Cty Note The XR-1010 will retain the chosen mode while OFF. For more detailed operation instructions on set highway/city mode, see page 11. Manual Muting Cty Press and release Mute button to turn off volume while signal is in progress. Note The factory default mode is Auto Muting. For more detailed operation instructions on setting muting mode, see page 13. Press and release City button. Cty will display while in City mode. To Switch Between Modes Press and release Mute Button when no signal is being received to switch from Manual to Auto Mute. Highway Mode Press and release City button again. Note The unit will announce "Highway" or"City" in Voice Mode. Note City ="Beep" Highway ="Beep-Beep" 10 11 Operation Muting Audio Muting The Mute button is used to temporarily turn off the alarm and control Auto Mute mode. Operation Selecting Auto Muting Mode (from Manual mode) In Auto Mute mode the alerts will be heard at the set volume for 3 seconds, then automatically be reduced to a lower level. PRESS & RELEASE PRESS & RELEASE Muting Manual Muting Press this button to turn off the audio alarm. Note To completely turn off incoming alerts while in auto mode, press and release mute button. Note Mute="Beep" OR Auto Mute="Beep-Beep" Press and release Mute button to turn off the audio during an alert. The alarm will be turned off until the incoming audio signal is over and will reset at previous volume level for next alert. Pressing Mute button again will turn alarm back on. Press and release Mute button for less than two seconds when no signal is being received. In Voice + Tone Mode the message "Mute" or "Auto Mute" will be heard. Note The factory default mode setting is Auto Muting. Selecting Manual Muting Mode (from Auto mode) In Manual Mute mode the alerts will always be heard at the set volume level. Press and release Mute Button when no signal is being received. 12 13 Operation Voice AlertTM Mode Note Voice AlertTM is the factory default setting. Detection Voice AlertTM Mode Press and hold MUTE button for more than two seconds to switch between Voice and Tone Mode and Tone Only Mode. When Voice AlertTM is selected "Voice AlertTM" will be heard. A "beep" will be heard when Tone Mode is selected. Band Detection This detector is designed to detect X, K, Superwide Ka Band Radar, Laser (including LTI 20-20*, Ultra Lyte*, ProLaser* and ProLaser III* technologies), VG-2, Safety Alert® and Strobe AlertTM* signals. *360° Detection Band Detection Audible Alarm Speaker Memory Set Your Cobra® XR-1010 features an automatic internal electronic memory system. It will automatically "remember" your settings when the unit is turned "OFF" or removed from power source. Memory Set Automatically remembers settings of Dim, Muting and City/Highway modes. In Tone Mode a different alert tone will sound for X, K, Ka, Laser (a distinctly different tone for each of the four laser signals: LTI 20-20*, Ultra Lyte*, ProLaser* and ProLaser lll*, VG-2, and Safety and Strobe AlertTM signals. Audible Alarm Speaker and Voice AlertTM Auxiliary Audio Jack Auxiliary Audio Jack Use to connect an external speaker to your Cobra® XR-1010 in environments with high ambient noise levels. The internal speaker will be disconnected. PRESS & RELEASE Instant-On Detection The Cobra® XR-1010 is also designed to detect Instant-on speed monitoring signals. Immediate action is required when warning is given. 14 15 Detection X, K, Ka Alert X, K and Ka Bands The display will show illumination of the band received (X, K or Ka). The signal strength will be indicated by signal strength LED's which increase in size as you approach the radar gun. To turn the VG-2 Audio Alert "on" press and hold the Dim Button for 2 seconds. The Radar Detector will beep twice indicating the VG-2 Audio Alert has been activated. Detection VG-2 Alert® Safety Alert® Traffic Warning System and Strobe AlertTM Safety Alert® Traffic Warning System and Strobe AlertTM will alert you with the following warnings: Emergency Vehicle, Road Hazard and Train. X K Ka Cty VG-2 Alert® Note The display does not indicate signal strength. In Voice AlertTM, the message "Be careful--VG2 alert" will be announced according to the band given, followed by tones until the alert is over. VG-2 Undetectable The Cobra® XR-1010 is undetectable by police VG-2 detection devices. During this time, the unit is still on full alert and able to detect other signals. Strobe AlertTM W Cty Safety Alert® Traffic Warning System and 360º Strobe AlertTM V Cty Strobe AlertTM will be indicated by a blinking W and Emergency Vehicle tone. Safety Alert® W Cty V on the front of the unit will be displayed. VG-2 Audio Alert To turn VG-2 Audio Alert "off" press and hold the Dim , Button for 2 seconds. The Radar Detector will beep once indicating the VG-2 Audio Alert has been disabled. PRESS & HOLD Safety Alert® will detect Road Hazards, Trains and Emergency Vehicles. Display will show an illuminated W with separate distinct tones for Emergency Vehicle, Road Hazard and Train. 16 17 Detection Laser Note The display does not indicate signal strength. Note In Voice AlertTM, the message "Be careful--Laser alert" will be announced, followed by the UltraLyte, ProLaser, or 20/20 tone. Laser & LaserEye® 360° Detection The XR-1010 can separately identify four laser signals. ProLaser, ProLaser 3, LTI 20/20, and Ultra Lyte Laser Guns. Radar Frequencies There are three frequencies that have been approved by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) for use in speed monitoring equipment. They are: X Band (10. 525 GHz), K Band (24. 150 GHz) Ka Band (33. 400-36. 000 GHz) Your Cobra® XR-1010 can detect signals in all radar bands including photo radar and STALKER radar which use the Ka band, and Cobra®'s Safety Alert® signals on the K band. Radar Frequencies L Cty The display will illuminate the L followed by a distinct beep tone identifying radar being used. Radar/VG-2/Laser Alerts Type of Audible Signal Your COBRA® XR-1010 starts to signal slowly, then increases in rate very rapidly. [. . . ] This will ensure the fastest turn-around time on your repair. " You may be asked to send your unit to the Cobra® factory. It will be necessary to furnish the following in order to have the product serviced and returned. For Warranty Repair include some form of proof-of-purchase, such as a mechanical reproduction or carbon or a sales receipt.
