Familiarize yourself with all vehicle controls and their proper operation. Wear appropriate protective gear - approved full faced helmet, eye protection, gloves, boots, long-sleeve shirt, and pants. [. . . ] Slide the seat towards the rear of the vehicle and off the retaining tabs on the gas tank. 1. Position the vehicle on a level surface so that there is no danger of it falling over while you work. Press down slightly on the rear of the seat with one hand while pulling up on the quick release lever with a finger of the other hand. To install the seat, align the retaining tabs on the fuel tank with the receivers on the underside of the seat. POTENTIAL HAZARD Unlatched, or damaged seat WHAT CAN HAPPEN If you install the seat incorrectly (not latched) or if the seat is damaged, it can shift or come off while you are riding causing you to lose control. You could be seriously injured or killed in an accident. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD 2. Hold up on the release lever and push the rear of the seat down and release the lever. You should hear the lever "snap" or "click" onto the latch on the subframe. Test to confirm that the seat is latched properly by lifting the rear of the seat up with your fingers. Make sure the seat is fastened securely and it is in good condition. After installing the seat, pull the front and rear of the seat upwards to make sure it is latched and locked into position. If the seat is loose or unlatched, correct the situation before riding. Contact your Cannondale Dealer for a replacement seat if damaged. 49 Printed : 1/9/02 FUEL THROTTLE FREEPLAY ADJUSTMENT FUEL TANK REMOVAL POTENTIAL HAZARD 1. To adjust the freeplay at the grip, slide boot back to expose lock ring and adjuster. Loosen the lock ring and turn the adjuster until the specified freeplay is reached. Tighten the lock ring securely when finished and return the boot. Fuel fire or explosion WHAT CAN HAPPEN The fuel tank on your vehicle has been designed to be removed without having to drain the fuel from it. However, gasoline is extremely flammable and can explode under certain conditions. A tank with fuel in it can be heavy to handle, if you drop it or fuel spills from the tank, the risk of fire or explosion is increased. You can be seriously injured or killed in a fuel accident. (3) (1) (2) (a) HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD A filled tank is heavy so be sure you can safely lift and handle the tank before you attempt to remove the tank from the vehicle.
