[. . . ] User Guide BT DECOR 1500 2 In this guide Setting up Base cable connections . 25 Setting up Base cable connections (underside of base) 3 Line in Please note You must plug your BT Decor 1500 into a microfilter if you have broadband P TE TB Mode Ringer R1 R2 R3 Hi Lo Off Ringer Vol. 4 Setting up Removing the base plinth (optional) Your BT Decor 1500 will come with the base plinth already attached. If you want to use your BT Decor 1500 on a flat surface such as a table or desk then we advise you to leave the plinth attached. If you prefer to wall-mount your BT Decor 1500, please refer to the instructions shown on page 22. If you want to remove the base plinth, turn the plinth lock switch on the underside of the phone to the `unlock' position and unclip. Setting the day and time The pre-set day and time are Saturday 12:01am. [. . . ] Playing messages 9 will flash in the message counter if you have 10 or more messages. Messages will be played back over the loudspeaker or, if you pick up the handset you can listen privately to your messages. Press Play Pause . Messages will be played back in the order they were received, ie. a message received on January 21st will be played before a message received on January 22nd. If there are no messages recorded, you will hear "You have no messages". The machine announces, "You have n new messages", and your new messages are played back. At the start of each message, the message number is announced and during play the message counter displays the message number. While paused, a P flashes in Pause the message counter and a short beep sounds every 10 seconds. Press twice to play the previous message. Using the answering machine 17 Skip forward ­ Press Skip to skip to the next message. Del Delete current message ­ Press Stop playback ­ Press Stop . . You cannot delete new messages. You will need to listen to your messages before you can delete them. When all messages have been played back, the machine announces, "End of messages", and begins an 8 second countdown. At the end of the countdown, all messages, except those selected for deletion are automatically saved. Delete all old messages After the announcement, "End of messages", during the 8 second countdown you can delete all messages. Press Del during the 8 second countdown, "All messages deleted", is announced. Call screening When the answering machine is taking a call, you can listen to your caller leaving a message over the loudspeaker and decide if you want to take the call in person. To speak to the caller, simply lift the handset and recording will stop immediately. Any partly recorded message will be stored on the answering machine. All messages, even those marked for deletion will be automatically saved. 18 Using the answering machine Memory full Your BT Decor 1500 answering machine can record 11 minutes of messages (including memos) before the memory becomes full. When full an `F' will flash in the message counter and you will hear the announcement, "Memory Full". If a caller is leaving a message and the memory becomes full, the machine will announce, "Thank you for calling", and disconnect the line. Your answering machine will then automatically switch to Answer Only mode, and play callers the message, "Hello, your call cannot be taken at the moment, so please call later". You must delete messages to allow for more messages to be recorded, see above. Remote access Operate your answering machine remotely from any TouchtoneTM phone by calling your BT Decor 1500 and entering an access code ( ) followed by a 2-digit security * code. The security code helps to keep your messages private and can be found on a label on the underside of the phone. When you hang-up, the answering machine will switch on automatically and answer calls. The access code and 2-digit security code cannot be changed. 19 Please note If someone else tries to call you and happens to let the phone ring for 20 rings, the answering machine will also switch on. If the memory is full, you will have to delete some messages before your BT Decor 1500 will switch to `answer on' mode. After you hear the `memory full' announcement, you have 8 seconds to enter your security code. You can then delete messages, see `To delete messages', pages 17­18. Operate your answering machine remotely If you left your answering machine switched on: 1. Product disposal instructions for business users Business users should contact their suppliers and check the terms and conditions of the purchase contract and ensure that this product is not mixed with other commercial waste for disposal. · Simply clean your BT Decor 1500 with a damp (not wet) cloth, or an anti-static wipe. · Never use household polish as this will damage the product. · Do not submerge any part of your product in water and do not use it in damp or humid conditions, such as bathrooms. · Do not expose your product to fire, explosive or other hazardous conditions. Guarantee Your BT Decor 1500 is guaranteed for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. [. . . ]
